CPPC - the CORPORATE PURCHASING & PROCUREMENT CARD

Researched the application of credit cards for purchasing with a view to implementation in the City of Edmonton to reduce the cost of purchasing. Extensive reports were received from governments and major organisations in Australia, Texas, Washington DC, Ottawa and Montreal.

It was found that costs could be reduced by at least 9%.

Negotiated with departments - countering their objections - until unanimous agreement had been reached.

The only existing operation in Canada was between National Bank and CN. There were lengthy discussions with both parties.

Tendered the requirements, drafted the final agreement, and introduced the first VISA procurement card in Canada, through the TD Bank, and monitored results during the trial period, which was with only one major department initially, with later expansion to other departments.

The extensive library of documents compiled during this research was made available to others for use as a thesis in purchasing examinations.
