On Alistarr Master Metalsmiths, Weaponsmiths & Armorers can produce socketed Weapons and armor. These items must be custom made, existing items cannot be retro-fitted. A Weapon, Armor or Shield can only be designed to accept up to three items.
The magical items that can be placed into sockets can be found anywhere on Alistarr, although they are extremely rare. Occasionally they can be found in shops but are extremely expensive.
Some of them require magic points to be willed into them for them to work, others simply work naturally. Those that require MPs, the points will effect all items of the same type, on the same item. Some of these items can be combined with others for better magical effects and some cannot be mixed.
ELEMENTAL STONES
FIRE STONES - These stones look like rubies but generate a natural heat, they are usually found near volcanoes or other sources of great heat.
Weapon - +3/6/9pts Fire Damage (Requires 1MP to ignite)
Shield - -5/10/15pts Fire Damage (No MPs required)
Armor - -3/6/9pts Fire Damage (No MPs required)
Helmet - Ignite 1/2/3 spirit spell (Usuable Int/3 times per day) (No MPs required)
ICE STONES - These stones look like white Opals but are naturally cold. Usually found near great glaciers or deep caverns.
Weapon - +3/6/9pts Cold Damage (Requires 1MP to use)
Shield - -5/10/15pts Ice Damage (No MPs required)
Armor - -3/6/9pts Ice Damage (No MPs required)
Helmet - No Known uses
SUN STONE - This stone looks much like a Sunfire Opal, it is always hot and can be found just about anywhere.
Weapon - +3/6/9pts Damage to Chaos Creatures (Requires 1MP to use)
Shield - -5/10/15pts Damage from Chaos Weapons & Creatures (No MPs required)
Armor - -3/6/9pts Damage from Chaos Weapons & Creatures (No MPs required)
Helmet - +10/20/30 to Sense Chaos skill
(There is also a CHAOS Stone, which is a solid black stone which is always intensely cold and can be found in areas of Heavy Chaos. Its effects are the opposite of the SUN Stone)
CORPSE STONE - This really is not a stone, but is a piece of bone from a magical undead creature. These can be found just about anywhere.
Weapon - +3/6/9pts Damage to Undead Creatures (Requires 1MP to use)
Shield - -5/10/15pts Damage from Undead Natural Weapons (No MPs required)
Armor - -3/6/9pts Damage from Undead Natural Weapons (No MPs required)
Helmet - +10/20/30 to Sense Undead Skill
MOON STONE - This stone looks much like a pearl, but is slightly heavier and apparently cannot be crushed or powdered. (Its effects only work between sundown & sunrise)
Weapon - +2/4/6pts Damage (No MPs required)
Shield - No Known Uses
Armor - +10/20/30 to Hide Skill
Helmet - Invisibility spirit spell (Usable INT/3 per Night) (Requires 1MP to use)
ARKENSTONE - Looking like an incredibly brilliant diamond, it must be powdered and blended with the metal. It can only be used to make Armor (Helmet included)
Armor - +1/2/3pts Regeneration per minute until totally healed
BLOODSTONE - Looking like an incredibly dark ruby, they must be powdered and mixed with the metal of the item. It can only be used for Weapons and Armor (Helmet included)
Weapon - +1/2/3MPs to You for every 5pts of Damage inflicted on target (Minus Armor)
Armor - +1/2/3MPs to You for every 5pts of Damage inflicted on you (Minus Armor)
EARTHSTONE - Looking like a piece of Black Granite but it is very heavy even for very small pieces. It must be powdered and mixed with the metal.
All Items - +2/4/6APs to item
SOUL STONE - Looking like a Deep Green emerald. Only 1 stone can be used, and once its effect is used the stone is reduced to dust. It can only be used in a Breast Plate..
Armor - Worn over the heart, with the wearer has 5HPs or less (Including dead) it does a
Heal Body to the wearer.
SPIRIT STONE - Looking like a smoky grey pearl, but feeling weightless, these stones are incredibly rare. They can only be used in helmets and must be powdered and mixed with the metal.
Helmet - 1/2/3meter total protection from spirits/wraiths/ghosts. (What total protection means is that the creature cannot perceive anything within the area of effect. Their powers have no effect within the area of effect)
DARK STONE - Looking like a rather plain black stone, that is just very heavy. It can only be used in helmets. It gives the person the skill of Dark Sense, and it is highly prized by dwarves.
Helmet - +10/20/30pts to Dark Sense Skill
GLOW STONE - These very unique stones are both natural creations but can also be made by very talented elemental sorcerers. These stones are not used in armor or weapons. They are instead used for more practical items such as lanterns, torches, etc.
They produce a 10' glow equal to torch light. Each stone adds +5' to the lighted area and increases the light by about 10%
