Governor Raman

Governor Raman is the youngest governor in Armath, he is just thirty years old, he was the chief aid for the regions previous governor. Raman is a graduate of the college of Otherion in Korados, where he graduated at the top of his class in diplomacy. Raman got the job as aid to governor Jorge because of his father Thayman, who is well respected member of the merchants guild, who serves on the guild council in Armath. Governor Jorge owed Thayman a favor, so he took Raman on as his chief aid, which he later admitted to Thayman was one of the best decisions of his career.

For unknown reasons governor Jorge was assassinated while he was attending a trade meeting in Veyduum, Farlanth. Raman was also injured by the assassin but he recovered from the attack quickly. Marlenius was pressured to make an older person the new governor, but he told his advisors that in a meeting with Jorge, that the governor had told him that he wanted Raman to succeed him. So Raman was appointed to be the new governor of the Amanpal region.

The Amanpal region is mostly agriculturial, but there is also an open pit copper mine, the mines produces all of the copper used in the minting of copper clack coins for Armath. When Raman took over as governor he removed people that he knew were corrupt and or taking bribes. This made him very unpopular with most of the government of the region, this was compounded when he appointed people that he knew to be honest and hard working, but not very well liked.

Marlenius has supported Raman, seeing the benefit of the changes that he had made to the regions government. Since Raman took over he has put his education to work, he has negotiated several excellent trade contracts with Farlanth and Korados. He has also worked out a deal with the dwarves of the Pantuk mountains to start working a coal mine. Raman has already been swamped with offers to buy the coal, but so far he has not signed any contracts, he first wants to see how much coal the mine will produce, then he'll see to Armaths needs first.
