June 20, 2006 -Anyone for a dip?

Wasted away on the rich and famous (or not)... The shores of Laguna Beach are  a nice little escape from this little reality of a life. The rates are not TOO obscene -$129 to $599 - but you get to look at magnificent views of the Pacific, always a nice thing. But what disappointment must set in when you leave.

I want to move to seaside paradise like nobody's business.  I would even take to doing menial tasks if only to satisfy this dream. As long as I have a view, nights off, warm breezes off the ocean (so an island in South Pacific or Caribbean would suffice.)

I want adventure too - living in the Midwest blows chucks - in living in a tropical paradise. I wonder if someone needs an IE to do layout work, or maybe warehouse labor??? Or maybe all those Jack Higgins Novels actually take place, and do have a need for a landlubber like me? Maybe I should sharpen up on my Espanol? Or some other tongue?

I'd live in a 20' x 20' hut/shack, with basic necessities, and of course, Satellite TV (for my Cubs & now, Marlins fix.) Transport my books, a laptop and a few clothes, and buy a generator to run things.  Live close to the beach, even run a paper delivery service if that made a dime or two.

Maybe it is all over romanticized, but hell, so is Hoosier Hysteria over basketball...

Well, someday, when the necessity to live in Boring, Indiana is no longer a necessity, I'll make that leap to somewhere warm forever...hopefully a ROOM WITH A VIEW.

For you, I would advice to sharpen up you spanish first.
A postgrade in logistics or quality assurance could make it so to be an expert in really underdeveloped countries.
For logistics the best option is Panama.
Warehouse Management... well, only developed countries know such a thing exists. In Uruguay a Warehouse Manager is a guy who probably hasn't finished highschool.
Learning portuguese would be good too. If you now spanish, portuguese is piece of cake.
The plan B would be joining the Army and asking for an overseas position.

Good luck.
