April 26, 2006 -Reggie Bush Fiasco

It seems very convenient that suddenly the entire focus on Reggie Bush (and Winston Justice) is about what a infantile sport marketing firm (led by at least one shady character in Lloyd Lake) is alleged to have 'done' for these guys, a week before the draft. It is pretty clear (believe it or not) that someone must have known about this, sat on it until the last possible moment, then release the 'scoop' to Yahoo! sports for the purpose of tearing down Mr. Bush.

If Reggie's parents actually took a substantial lease out on that home (say $1,500/mo - a cut rate deal for SD, but not a freebie) but no guarantees (in writing) were made, this story needs to go away.

What I see is a bunch of sore losers (with regard to the marketing of Reggie Bush) that sought to make trouble for him because he didn't want to work with them. (And who seriously would, given there shoddy workmanship and obvious vendetta holding after losing a client.)

The rule violations at USC should be a seperate issue also. It is high time in 21st century that we realize the monetary temptations and the hidden resentment towards these high-end college sports (Duke, NC, USC, Alabama, UK, ND, Kansas, Texas, Florida, FSU among the elite in basketball and football) by players that make big cash for these places needs to be properly addressed.

Amateur athletics is no longer amateur night at the Apollo. These schools bank millions of the images and success of poor black (usually) and low-income players from the US and abroad. Make a system that works and this all goes away eventually....(rules violations for money.)
