March 15, 2006 - Saints should TRADE DOWN TWICE

After signing Brees, it is obvious they made the in roads to driving UP the price of Matt Leinart. By Trading down, twice actually, they could become an immediate problem in their division.
Tennessee - Norm Chow has to figure working with Leinart in the future is worth ALOT. But can he (and the Titans) outbid the New York J-E-T-S Jets?
NY JETS - could really use a QB, since Pennington is still risky.
So, the bidding war could be all over IF:
The Biggest DREAM for Saints - DE John Abraham actually wants to make a new deal in New Orleans...Brees signing convinces him that they are FOR REAL.
So, the Jets trade him (a mid-2nd round value assume) and their #4 overall and their 2nd round pick to New Orleans for Leinart and a 5th rounder.
The Saints then flip #4 overall to Buffalo if the Titans pick Young/Cutler over DBF.
Buffalo trades up to get DBF - giving up their 8th overall, a 2nd rounder while getting back the #4 and New Orleans' 4th rounder...
After this PROPOSED trade:
New Orleans:
DE John Abraham - worth 420
#8 overall - worth 1,400
#34- all ready have
#35 worth 550
#42- worth 480
Jets:
Matt Leinart - 2600
5th rounder from New Orleans - 42
- DE Abraham (420)
Bills:
D'Brickashaw Ferguson - 1,800
4th rounder - 108
-2nd round (550)
New Orleans - 2850 for Lienart
Jets - 2222
Bills - 1,358
New Orleans ROUGH DRAFT SCENARIO-
#8 - Vernon Davis TE - provides the possibility of an explosive offense. Brees likes TEs... a bit
#34 - DEMECO RYANS (LB) - ALABAMA - Sedrick Hodge replacement
#35 - NICK MANGOLD © - OHIO STATE -LeCharles Bentley replacement
#42 - KAMERION WIMBLEY (DE) FLORIDA STATE - Darren Howard replacement
Now, this WOULDN'T HAPPEN, but it sure would be a treasure trove for the hurting SAINTS. DREAM A LITTLE DREAM...
