September 15, 2005 - Bears might be in TROUBLE...
Depending on this week (at home against the Lions), this could be a long season. Realistically, the offense will struggle because of these factors:
1)A rookie QB that took over the starting job 2 weeks prior to the regular season
2) A patch work O-line that lacks really true talent. Plus they haven't played together enough.
3) A rookie Running back that got to camp too late. A rookie WR that is your #2 WR most likely.
4) #1 WR gets all the attention from a secondary. He'll be hard pressed to get big games.
5) TE position is less than secure.
On top of that, the Defense is way overrated. They gave up 160 yds. rushing to a no-pass team in Washington that used 2 QBs. Shut down the run, or find yourself at 4-12.
Kyle Orton should be left alone to develop. After 10 games, evaluate him with all the other problems, and ask yourself, "IF given the proper talent around him, will he do the job?" The answer in my opinion, today, is, "Yes." Plus by then , Rex Grossman could come back to get some time. If Orton is successful, then Rex, you are #2 QB.
