With Katrina making her way onto the SE coast of Louisana, you got wonder what it is like to live in the Hurricane Alley of North America. (Taiwan, Japan and the Phillipines are the Pacific version of this...)
To realize, every year, that a Category 4 or 5 storm will suddenly arise, all your things will be destroyed, and your life is at the very whim of nature isn't something you want to go through over and over again... yet many do.
When I was a kid, I wanted to see the wind and the awesome power of hurricanes. (The average hurricane has more energy produced within it than the entire US electrical power produced in one year...) Now, I find myself thinking I wouldn't want to live so close to these places where they occur.
One guy interviewed, that when through Camille (200+ MPH wind gusts) said: "When it's your time to go, it doesn't matter what you do..." True Enough.
My thoughts are with the people of the Southeast and hopefully aid will come quickly and efficiently.
