You ever wonder why our current President got so INVOLVED in the discussion of Steroids in sports - even mentioning it in the State of the Union, the most important speech he makes, usually - when he traded for The #1 Steroid user as the Texas Ranger owner pre-1994 strike? (Being his family has DEEP connections, to the CIA for one, and knowing that Canseco NEVER really hid his usage from even the casual reporter at the San Fran Chronicle, among others. He had to KNOW about it, even then.) If you pay 8-10 million a year for a player, wouldn't you spend 5-10K to do a background on him? YOU WOULD.
I do think it is HARD to believe Rafael would continue using after being scrutinized so much by a Congressional task force put on a semi-political witch hunt to OUT the abusers to the public?
What Jose Canseco said YESTERDAY was NOT out and out nuts. Conspiracy's definition is the planning of two or more people to do an evil act. Why is it SO HARD to believe a COMMISSIONER under then gun to make policy would not submit to pressure BY SOMEONE much higher, to OUT a REAL STAR.
Rafael Palmeiro has NOTHING left to prove; he was set; why WOULD he continue to use STEROIDS? In fact, his description of WHATEVER he took MIGHT be due to the fact he DOESN'T really KNOW, NOW. But he knew way back when - 5 or 10 years ago.
I KNOW that our President just congratulated him on hitting 3,000. But what is the BEST way to make powerless a HOF candidate? By smiling on one hand - and hammering him with the other. And supposed friendships can change on a moment's notice.
Power trips are not about gaining power, per se, but MAKING POWERLESS those you feel are usurping your authority. (READ: Bush on the COUCH.) Some of the thoughts written by a well-know psychoanalyst:

The last bullet point lends credence to my Conspiracy.
So, don't be so quick to find fault - I can believe Rafael did it BEFORE there was a POLICY - BUT after doesn't jibe up with Rafael's personality or what a NORMAL human being would do.
The FACT the Chicago Tribune, owner of the Chicago Cubs, and former owner of Rafael, would GET the LEAK first SMELLS fishy to me.
TOO CONVENIENT.
I'll generate flack for all of this, but frankly I don't have patience for the media or fans going off in ALL directions, without a REAL Investigation. That is the lenchpin in all conspiracies - to uncover the true motivations of ALL Persons.
Ask anyone that has DEALT with the POWERS THAT BE and you MIGHT garner a real understanding of the odd way things are sometimes portrayed solely for a captive audience - THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
