December 8, 2006 - I had forgotten about my old Geocities account and Amy White, Playboy model
Not that it really matters, but I had a few websites I made in the late 90's and early on in 2001 that I found (somehow) on the net. I have to admit, I wish I had all the junk from previous attempts to make a real top end site. I also wish Yahoo! (and Geocities) had more functionality that would allow more creativity to be had in a website. Of course, I am managing this site from a library, so I shouldn't be complaining.
On a brighter note, I found this little lady a few years ago - Amy White. She posed in Playboy in 2001? in the Girls of the SEC. An Alabama Crimson Tide graduate (and doing well, I suppose), I always thought she had that "IT." Good smile, great body, intelligence from her portfolio summaries - British Lit. and Criminal Justice - and it stands out in my mind. She's my type; but I'm not hers. Meaning: It would take a few years and me making 6 figures to even reach 'her level' of sophistication. Beyond that, I can't say what motivates any woman - since most reveal little about their inner workings - yet I do think 4 things are important in a relationship: Communication, Time, Money and Sexual Relations.
Communication is the hallmark of functioning relationship. The ability to read each other, listen to each other's needs (and wants) and get along together when you're likely to disagree. Time is what drives people together or apart. LDRs work only if they communicate well (utilizing email, phone and actual written words) and can enjoy time to the fullest when together. But other relationships were time is plentiful has to be spent usefully and in ways not to become to resentful of being 'a couple 24-7.' Money, money, money, money,...money!!! We all realize if you can't afford things that others find easy, resentfulness and bickering will soon arise. Some can live below a certain means - others can't. If you can't afford a relationship, it make hard to start one. Sexual relations is a another control point. If either side feels there needs are being undercut, it is soon to be a long lasting problem. We all function differently in love making in the bedroom, the shower, on the coffee table or at a mountain top hideaway. And the needs for romance, stamina, after sex cuddling come in various forms....These all lead to one ideal: LOVE, LOVE...LOVE,LOVE, LOVE!!!!
Course, why should I look for any woman? I'm currently a loser, a buster, a cad on a good day. Most times I wish I could get a do over in life. Go back to a time when I had the mindset that I could do anything and DO JUST THAT!!! I made some horrendous decisions in late 2000 and early 2001 that still will haunt me...(A felony came out of that - and my integrity and happiness is now discarded.)
Why I say all of this? Because it just means now I focus on these irrelevant tasks of seeing what was beautiful - old websites, classic web games, truly unattainable woman, sports history and history in general - and accepting that is all there is left for me.
I have about 230 pages done on a Baseball History. Unfortunately, the laptop I was using crapped out on me. The power cord is shot and I need a replacement for it. It cost like $80, not much, but then I have a hard time spending $40 on anything. I have no Credit Cards - because of the misadventure that landed me in prison for 27 months, which in turn, ruined my decent credit - so that isn't an option. Anyways, the analysis I wrote likely would not get printed by anyone, even though I presented an interesting alternative theory to the STEROID ERA and countered other myths surrounding baseball analyses. My research included about 75 books and 100s of Internet articles.
So in a way, I've given up on the project. I wasted 6 months writing it, but it was a nice way to fell 'connected' to something bigger. I recently wrote to commissioner for the local government about an alternative way to solve the dire situation that exists in my county. Instead of criticizing his 10 step plan, I offered this action:
In reading your recent proposal in a Letter to the Editor, I was moved to make a proposal of my own. Namely, I feel the approach to getting savings is overlooking a few avenues of assistance. You mentioned Purdue University as an avenue for idea interchange, a good recommendation, but why stop there? Why not utilize their brain power on campus to analyze the entirety of the Lake County operations?
My proposal is this - to be pursued ASAP in January 2007:
1) All seniors (and some juniors) in Industrial Engineering do a project out in the field. In many cases, their recommendations are carried through by the company of employment. Given this possibility, utilizing an outside group of either a small task force or several student groups each focusing on an agency in Lake County while being monitored and graded by a professor, they could do significant analysis and create an overarching report of where things can be improved. Further, after an initial report in late 2007/early 2008, a few graduating seniors living in Lake/Porter County/South Chicago/or elsewhere could be offered employment to follow through on the vast analysis that they are all ready familiar with. Even IE graduate students interested in government workings could be contacted - possibly to an even greater benefit much sooner.
Stage 1: Contact Purdue IE dept. for a quick set up of project parameters & scope
Stage 2: Form groups based on governance tasks/ assign contact people from each area /access to records or planning information
Stage 3: Set up regular reporting (1 month) at Merrillville campus (since the students will be in West Lafayette) and possibly continuance over the summer in offering an internship to continue such a vast study, based on the quality of Spring 2007 work
Stage 4: Review analysis & presentations in late 2007. Based on the successfulness of students, offer some job opportunities to carry out the initial (and formulate further) recommendations of this report for a period of at least one year.
In essence, you would receive two years worth of work for the price of one. You could further establish a long-term connection with a prestigious university providing the 'best and brightest' in fine tuning government. The pipeline of technology, analysis and effective problem solving from Purdue in not only Industrial Engineering, but also Business Management areas, could become a bastion of success in the wake of a crumbling tax policy that may have disastrous effects on this region.
Outside eyes, especially since most in the current government are too busy governing daily to build a long-term projects that will ever be carried out, can see things that some in government are too close to. They are young and energetic and resourceful, able to see where the future is going because these students will be the future. In all likelihood, most IE students are more technologically advanced that most government workers. Able to see where the shortcomings of current technology and inefficiencies exist that could be readily solved.
Lastly, a big problem in Indiana is the retention of qualified, educated personnel to solve the problems of governance and economic renewal. Maybe involvement sooner in the problem will cause some to feel more connected to fixing it for their neighbors, relatives and themselves.
I thank you for listening to my idea.
I think I made an attempt to change things. Even though I am not an expert, I think I am pretty bright and able to add to the society in which I live. I think our society demonizes people for being quirky or outside what is called 'societal norms.' Our nation is so hung up on money, sex, race and religion, among other things, that people that are not so worried about 'being different' get the shaft. I've posted my opinions about a lot of things, and I hope to somehow change things in the future. But unless I see some benefit, to the help of myself and my mother, it won't encourage me to continue trying. At some point, even the most active and persistent people give up. ( Humanist Kurt Vonnegut expresses this dismay in A Man Without Country like most of his work usually does.)
Have a Good Weekend....
