JD Drew should be a possibility now that he has turned down a future contract with the Dodgers.
His OBP and high SLG would bolster an anemic offense. Yes, this guy does get hurt and he is 31. But that wasn't a problem last season - and his numbers reflect that. He walks, he has power and can play all 3 OF positions which is a real need for the Cubs...
With Wade Miller signed AGAIN... the Cubs Pitching will likely become:
1) Zambrano
2) FA or Yikes!!! Mark Prior
3) Rich Hill
4) Sean Marshall
5) Wade Miller
If the Cubs are still enamored with Prior and Miller, then I say NO ONE with sanity should be watching the Cubs. Granted, the impending sale of the TRIBUNE COMPANY likely means no money will be spent on the team, and thus, no one should be yelping to go to the park. I can support the team, but I am tired of their antics in the off season. They never get the best free agents; and they avoid paying anyone the money while the Boston, New York and others pay the piper. Why Not?
The fans deserve ONE YEAR of bliss. A World Series appearance in my lifetime seems almost doomed.
