Three shows I adore, love or otherwise take the time to watch, are: Psych, House and Hustle.
Psych mixes the detective, fake psychic, quirky buddy comedy inside an interesting blend of who dunnit intrigue that never gets too serious or pretentious. The characters make the show so far - Shawn Spencer (James Roday) plays the psychic with Burton Guster (Dule Hill) as his life long friend- and it will have a solid place on USA in my opinion for a few seasons.
As this show moves forward, it will have to alter some characters to make it last. Or at least someone will have to figure out Shawn's parlor tricks and techniques.
House has been on awhile. I love the caustic nature of Gregory House in all things human. He takes his rapier wit into the examination rooms of people minds and bodies and thrusts reality into their souls. It is fun to see how a man that feels so empty, yet is so intelligent, can be always as cynical as he is yet somehow is teaching 3 doctors how to become experts in infectious diseases diagnosticians.
Hugh Laurie is the driving force on the show...but needs a equal to really set off the conflict at some point. I watch often just to hear House banter with Cuttie the Head Administrator. He wins over her typical "I must protect the hospital and the books" defense.
Hustle is stylish and full of pizazz as 5 cons take down amoral and greedy chums on the streets of London. Adrian Lester as Mickey Briggs is British through and through. As the gang leader, he's often more sauve and sophisticated than the others, and that takes a lot, since all are above par in those qualities. Robert Vaughn is a Hollywood icon - Jaws fame - and yet takes a backseat yet flavorful role as the arranger of these little shaftings of mean, two-faced jackals.
The sleek nature of the cinematography makes the show. I could watch 1 1/2 hours of this one, as they scheme and arrange outlandish ways to part fools (predators all) from their money. As this show moves forward, I can see new grifters and worldwide adventures.
I didn't delve into the episodes much - but to me they are all worthwhile.
