Drew's Notebook: Anecdotes 2006-'07
William Walls III, future Mayor, City of Chicago www.WallsForCongress.com
Entry for February 17, 2007

As I sit in the Walls For Mayor campaign office and read the South Street Journal, which I intend to proof-read for in the very near future, it begins to re-crystalize in my mind just how insidiously divided Chicago's African- American community as it relates to resolving who should be elected mayor of the City of Chicago ten days from now. I didn't have to see or hear this morning's 'LIVE' Rainbow/PUSH broadcast this morning to know that neither Jesse Louis Jackson Sr. nor Congressman Jackson Jr. has publicly endorsed William 'Dock' Walls III, Cook County Court Clerk Dorothy Brown or incumbent Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley for the February 27th citywide election.

I contend that there is a cowardly ambivalence, really a milk-toast kind of hypocrisy present, manifested by these and many other such individuals purported to represent legitimate Black leadership, as it relates to making a definitive public endorsement of one of the three aforementioned mayoral candidates; with the possible exception of Eddie Reed and CBUC-BIPO, founded by that great African Visionary Activist-Journalist Lu Palmer, whose "We Shall See in '83" effort was indispensible to the election of Mayor Harold Washington some 24 years ago.

Dorothy Brown has publicly chided Richard Daley for his disinclination to participate in a 'LIVE' televised DEBATE and when asked on numerous occasions, Brown indicates a willingness to debate her fellow 2007 Chicago Mayoral contender, but whenever a debate is planned and about to be held, Dorothy Brown cancels at the last moment. She has no justifiable excuse for purposefully refusing to let the people see and hear what she and Bill 'Dock' Walls would say in a 'LIVE' televised debate format. It is clear to me that Ms. Brown does not want to debate Dock Walls and is desperately bent on avoiding such a debate with Dock Walls. I challenge Ms. Brown, her campaign manager Paul Davis, her press secretary John Davis or any other Dorothy Brown supporter, Morgan Carter, to prove me wrong! They can't do it because this simple truth is impossible to deny.

At Sunday February 11th's city-wide forum at Trinity United Church of Christ, Dorothy Brown accused Dock Walls of, in her words, somehow "Lying again" (she said this three times in a row) and "trampling on Harold Washington's legacy" and queried, "Why did Harold Washington fire you?" (Bill 'Dock' Walls), to which Mr. Walls responded by reading to Ms. Brown a November 1986 newspaper article written by Tribune reporter John Kass, which clearly indicated that Mr. Walls, then 29, RESIGNED his post in his mentor's Administration and that Bill Walls and Harold Washington had been "INSEPERABLE"

EGG ON YOUR FACE, DOROTHY BROWN. We see who has been lying and who is telling the TRUTH.

WALLS FOR MAYOR!!!
