Drew's Notebook: Anecdotes 2006-'07
William Walls III, future Mayor, City of Chicago www.WallsForCongress.com
Entry for November 26, 2006

I arrived at  Captain's Hard Times Restaurant on Chicago's South Side just after three o'clock this afternoon, looking at the pictures on the  mirrored wall commenting on Willie Taplin Barrow with Lloyd Coward. We discussed how Sears is not really owed the money I intend to pay notwithstanding the somewhat menacing letter I got from Sears' debt-collector, Balogh Becker law firm out of Minnesota. John told me that they're trying to play me, which was echoed by my friend Lloyd.

I spoke with Audrey Forrest about taping tomorrow's press conference on the Fifth Floor of Chicago City Hall at 1pm. Shakman winner Eugene Wzorek, Jaime Hernandez and Linda Achor, author of DEATH OF THE JUSTICE SYSTEM are featured speakers. I invited Chicago Mayoral candidate Bill 'Dock' Walls to participate if he so wishes. The topic is Political Corruption in Chicago and the pending indictment of soon-to-be Former Mayor Richard M. Daley. I intend to write a soon-to-be-published book chronicling my first-hand observations of this most historic 2007 Chicago Mayoral campaign of the Honorable William Walls III.

One point that should repeated is what Dock said Monday night at the open house at the new campaign office...namely that when an incumbent chief executive officer such as Rich Daley expects to be mayor for life, Daley acts differently than someone else whose 'corruption allowance' has run out; because he will have been immune from prosecution where statutes of limitations are still in effect. If he knows he'll be out of office after his second consecutive four-year term and subject to federal indictment, he'll conduct himself very defferently...a very important point, particularly when Mayor Bill Walls imposes these term limits, as he has said. To paraphrase Jerome Williams, "This is a wonderful time to be alive!"
