How To Stop Yelling At Your Teenager!



Teen have a way of bringing out the worst in parents sometimes.
If you find that disagreements with your child cause you to
overheat, try these things:


1. Do not feel compelled to say anything at the moment.
Say you need some time to think things over and leave the room.

2. Send your child outside to burn of some of that energy
that drives you crazy.

3. Write a note. You can think ahead, and teens who often
" tune out ", tune in when parents put their thoughts on paper.

4. Give a signal. Arrange a signal. If you give it
your children will know their behavior is unacceptable at the time.

5. Pretend you`re rewinding a tape. Count 1-2-3 and say
"Let`s start over again".

6.Label your emotions. Saying,"I`m angry with you for not
telling the truth,"sends a more powerful message than yelling.

7.Take more time for yourself. Go to movie,take a soothing
bath - or do whatever it takes to lower your stress level.

8.Lighten up. Growl like a bear to let kids know
you`re reaching your boiling point.

9. If you speak softly- even wisper - your message will
more likely be heard.

10.Take a parenting course. It helps to know that your
child`s behavior is normal and other parents have similar problems.

When someone says: Have a nice day", tell them you have other plans.

Make a list of things to do, that you have already done.

Dance naked in front of your pets

Fill out your Taxforms using Roman Numerals.

Tape a picture of your boss on watermelons,
and launch them from high places.

Leaf through a "National Geographic" and draw underwear
on all the natives.

Go Schopping, Buy everything. Sweat in it. Return it next Day>

Pay your electric bill in pennies.

Make up a language and ask people for directions.

Write a short story using alphabet soup.

Read the dictionary upside down and look for secret messages.

Start a nasty rumour and see if you will recognize it
when it comes back to you.

Make up some stress relief on your own,
think about crazy things.It will make you laugh
and feel better!
