I: We spoke just before your fight with Shannon Briggs and you were very confident about that, very slow start I think you had a lot of people worried around 1 and 2.
L.L: Yeah, I mean the ref tripped me and he punched me in the back of the head, thats a good excuse.
I: You were being beaten up by a Lightweight!
L.L: No, I was off balance and it made it seem like it was a punch that knocked me off balance and you know it was a exciting fight and I like those kind of fights.
I: What turned it around for you, because after the second round you really went to work on Shannon Briggs.
L.L: Yeah, it was a situation when he came out real strong you know He had nothing to lose really and he basically busted his bubble and couldnt really stay with the heat in the kitchen.
I: Youve got a mandatory defense coming up against Mavrovic is that set now, do you know where youre going to fight or do you when youre going to fight?
L.L: I dont know where Im going to fight, I know that Im fighting him, were trying to get a date were looking at July early August.
I: On this side of the Atlantic, are you going over there to fight him?
L.L: No, this one is going to be in Britain.
I: Oh! Okay thats good for the home folks.
L.L: Yeah, hes from Croatia and hes got a big fan of people there that want to see him fight.
I: Are we going to see you fight Evander?
L.L: This is the question thats been eluding me for a while, I imagine so, I imagine so because hes fighting Henry Akinwande I dont think anybody is going to give him any respect for that because Ive already beaten Henry Akinwande, they dont want to see that again. I think its only a matter of time, really.
I: Around the ring last night, we were talking about any big fights for Evander and we can think of two really good paydays for him: We can think of Tyson, we can think of you! I mean either than that Evader doesnt really need the money but for him at this point, I cant see anybody for him thats going to make a decent amount of cabbage.
L.L: Hes waiting for Tyson, but he doesnt realize that the times moving on. Hes 36 now, and he needs to get in the ring with the right guys. Emanuel Steward is training Henry Akinwande privately so I: What do you think of Billy Irwins return to the ring?
L.L: I think hes looking good. I wish the best of Billy and I think hes a great guy and boxer. And he definitely wants to make it in boxing and hes doing a great job so far.
, hopefully he can get something out of him.
