Purpose:
Student will:
-Identify characters from the book
-Recreate the characters in the form of a book cover or story illustrations
Rationale:
By combining art and reading, students can express their creativity in more ways.
Materials:
-Markers, crayons
-construction paper, white drawing paper
-scissors, glue
-several copies of Stuart Little
Content:
Stuart, George, Mrs. Little, Mr. Little, Snowbell, Margalo, other minor characters
Activities:
1. To be done concurrent with lesson 4, i.e.: as they write their story, draw pictures or when
story done make cover
2. Students use materials to create a book cover and / or pictures to illustrate their sequel
to the book Stuart Little
Management:
Students will work independently at their desks on this project.
Assessment:
Student correctly identifies characters. The pictures are accurate in relation to the text,
i.e.: Stuart is a mouse, not a boy, Margalo is a bird, Snowbell is a cat, etc.
