Thoughts on becoming a teacher.....
I have taught in many settings. I volunteered for three years, two of which I spent teaching
religion to first graders. I have also worked at many day care centers. I have been a teaching
assisstant, and am now a teacher, with my own room.
I decided to be a teacher for many reasons. The most important being that I want to make
a difference in some child's life. I absolutely love kids. I feel it is important for
anyone going into teaching to have these two qualities.
As one of its goals, the UNO College of Education wants to produce "reflective teachers." Teachers
who think about what they are teaching, who they are teaching, and how they are doing: with the students,
the materials and the methods.
In the following pages, you will find lesson plans I create, papers I write and links I find helpful
and interesting. Throughout this section of my site, you will find my views on education and schools
today.
