Welcome to the Gothic Witches mailing list page. This list, dedicated to those Pagans, Wiccans and Witches that are also into the Gothic style of living. This page is where you can find any important info about the list, how to subscribe and any anouncements regarding the list or the contents of the mailings that might be important to anyone that is thinking or join, or even leaving, the list.
Well, that's quite simple. I have been a witch for 11 years. For about that same length of time I have been onto the goth scene as well. While I was living in Boston going to college, I realized that a lot of people that are into the goth scene also happen to be Pagans and Wiccans as well. And as time has gone on I have met more and more.
The reason why I wanted to start the list is because I have belonged to many a mailing list in my net days. I am a member of several Pagan lists and formerly of seveal Goth lists. The one thing that I have noticed is that there are not that many people from one group that really cross over to the other. On the Pagan lists it seems that you have a lot of older people that are more "new agey" in their style of music and living. NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!!! I like Lorenna McKennitt as much as the next person, but most of these people might not opt to sit and listen to Skinny Puppy to relax or as background music. And many don't have as much of an appreciation for the tales and lores of vampires and the like as well. But, now lets talk about the other side of things. You have those, on the Goth themed lists, that think that they are Witches because they have a copy of The Modern Witches Spellbook but they have never even really heard of the religion of Wicca. And then you have your Manson garden variety Satanists.
So since personally all of these things bother and annoy me personally (again, no offense intended to anyone...really), I thought that I would start the Gothic Witches list to bring those people that are serious about their life as both a Witch and a Goth.
