TIME LINE FOR THE CIVIL WAR, COLONEL ALFRED B. WADE AND THE 73RD INDIANA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY-1863.

April 9, 1863 - The "Independent Provisional Brigade" is formed by the 73rd and 51st Indiana, the 3rd Ohio and the 80th Il. and is commanded by Colonel Abel D. Streight. It is organized for a special raid across Northern Alabama.

April 22, 1863 - "Streight's Raid" commences with its goal the destruction of the iron works found in Rome, Georgia.

May 3, 1863 - The "Provisional Brigade" is forced to surrender to the cavalry of Nathan B. Forrest after nearly ten days of continuous fighting.

May 6, 1863 - The Battle of Chancellorsville (Va.) is fought.

May 16, 1863 - The officers of the "Provisional Brigade" including A.B. Wade arrive at Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia.

July 1, 2 and 3, 1863 - The Battle of Gettysburg (Pa.) is fought.

July 4, 1863 - Vicksburg, Mississippi falls to union troops.

July 13, 1863 - The "Draft Riots" begin in New York City and will last for four days.

Sept. 19, 1863 - The Battle of Chickamauga begins.

Nov. 19, 1863 - Lincoln delivers his Gettysburg Address.

Nov. 23, 1863 - The Battle of Chattanooga, Tennessee begins.
