The Captain Hiram H. Stamper Camp # 1715 was an outgrowth of
the Knott County Historical & Genealogical Society &
Library's Civil War Department - Confederate Division. The Civil
War Department had begun extensive research beginning in 1993 on
those Regiments which Knott County's ancestors had participated
in, and more intensive work had begun in June of 1994 when the
Rosters of these Regiments included extensive genealogical,
cemetery locations, photographs, pension records, etc. A
standardized form containing a minimum of seven pages on each man
in these many regiments was initiated in 1994.
