The Name

"Seventh-day Adventist"

By S. J. Crafts.

"We are Seventh-day Adventists. Are we ashamed of our name?

We answer, 'No, no! We are not.

It is the name the Lord has given us'."

(2SM 384.1)

If the church itself had thought up the name, then it could reserve all rights to the use of that name.

But as a church we did not invent it. It is the name the Lord has given to us. It is a name inspired of God, and surely therefore it is beyond the realms of copyright, trademark, or any such thing.

If our name were derived by human imagination or ingenuity, then the inventor has every right to claim it as his own, and to regulate its use. But it was not.

The name Seventh-day Adventist was derived by Inspiration.
