Freemasonry is an ancient institution. Many of its desires are noble and genuine. Many of its members have been men of renown and position. The preface to a Freemasonry Bible complied by C.FL Stauffacher, D.D, L.L.D., 33° and Charles P. Roney, D.D., puts it like this,

...Freemasonry involves an elaborate system of symbolic ritual, beginning at the point of the first initial step, and continuing throughout Craft Masonry. All the work of a Masonic Lodge is carried on through symbols and symbolic procedures. lndeed, the "symbolic constitutes the very essence of Freemasonry." Fremasonry is essentially the science of symbolism; it is a system of morality developed and indicated by the science of symbolism. It is this peculiar character as a symbolic institution... which gives peculiarity to Freemasonry and marks its distinctive difference from every other institution devised by the ingenuity of man. -

One of the world's oldest secular fraternal societies. A society of men concerned with spiritual values. Its members are taught its precepts by a series of ritual dramas which follow ancient forms and use stone-mason's customs and tools as allegorical ideas. The essential qualification for admission... is a belief in a "Supreme Being".'

There are many theories concerning the origins of Freemasonry, some even try and link it back to Adam! The English Constitution of Freemasons seeks a link with the building of Solomon's Temple.

The ritual and symbols are replete with the days of king Solomon of Israel and the building of the Temple... Rev. James Anderson. whose writings were published in England in 1723. says that.,. King Solomon was Grand Master of the lodge at Jerusalem'. - Stauffacher and Roney, p.9.

More modern writings establish a link with the stone masons who built the great cathedrals of England. Indeed all Freemasons at the beginning were stone masons. The Grand Lodge of England was formed in 1717 after most Cathedrals were finished, although there is evidence of local lodges throughout Britain prior to this. The Grand Lodge sought to unite these many individual lodges. As time went on too many started joining the lodges who had nothing to do with stone masonry.

Today the power of Freemasonry extends its infuence through government, administrations of Justice, professional bodies, all levels of management, local authorities and sadly too, the church. The Royal Family has been involved in Masonic ritual since its foundation, the Duke of Kent holding the title Grand Master for over twenty-five years.

When confronted with some fact masons will say you are totally wrong. However, do remember it is a secret society and only as you progress do you find out more. In common with many cults, the mason will only listen to a Masonic teacher and would regard all that he reads in books etc. as wrong. Indeed some of what you read may not be wholly true but in much there is at least some truth.

Some would claim today that it is no longer a secret society. The Duke of Kent encouraged fellow Masons in the early 1980’s to be more open and explain the "Craft" to those interested. With a great blaze of publicity they opened their doors to outsiders at Earls Court in 1992. However some of the ceremonies were performed in secret before the meeting and these are areas that are still not discussed. This includes not talking about the ceremonies, with masons who have not been through them, let alone outsiders. There are also special handshakes and initiation ceremonies. There are ways of standing and sayings that identify one mason to another the world over. For instance a mason asked, are you on the level?' Would reply, ‘I'm on the square.’

In some lodges there can be influence from the occult. Some people also might suffer because help is given to masons by fellow masons in business, government, or the police force. It is even claimed that judges have been known to give lighter sentences to fellow masons. These problems have inspired several attempts to bring masons out into the open. It was the major talking point in the police force at the end of the 1980's but little appears to have changed.

In Januaiy 1995 The Nolan Committee began its probe into standards of public life and they are threatening to probe the secrets of the "Craft". It is reported, for instance, that one lodge is made up almost entirely of men from the Ministry of Defence department. If true this could have an effect on the way they carry out their duties.

Another example of concern that has been noted came from the minutes of the Birmingham City Council in March 1985 discussed under the heading "potendal conflicts between Freemasonry and the wider interests of Birmingham citizens.

Even more serious could have been the contact that came to Cornmander Michael Higham in Britain from the Grand Lodge of Argentina during the Falkland crisis. He wanted them to work together to forestall any British military effort. In this instance he was referred to the Foreign Office.

You cannot apply to join your local lodge but must be invited by someone already in the Society. Still there are an estimated 3,000,000 masons world-wide with probably 500,000 of these in the 8,500 British lodges.

There are different reasons why people become masons, e.g. good works or business prospects. If you are not a Christian you may feel that there is no reason to leave. There are different practices in different countries or even parts of a country. It is important to distinguish between the practice of Freemasonry and what a particular individual mason does. Do not accuse every mason of being of the devil!

Masonry started with a Christian base but has been influenced away from this over the years. Especially responsible for this is Albert Pike who was the Supreme Commander of Freemasonry from 1839-1891. Pike came into Freemasonry from an occult background. He first ‘de-christianised' the ritual and then added paganism to it.

… the basic and fundamental principles of Freemasonry are found in what is ordinarily known as "BIue Lodge Masonry.' Blue Lodge Masonry consists of three Degrees: The Apprentice, the FellowCraft. the Master. Royal Arch Masonry, which now forms a part of what is known as "York Rite." was formerly a part of the Third Degree of 'Blue Lodge Masonry," and belongs more distinctly within Craft Masonry than do the higher Degrees of either the "York Rite" or the "Scottish Rite." - Stauffacher and Roney, p.9.

In Britain most masons go no higher than the Third Degree called Master Mason. The first two degrees being the Entered Apprentice and Fellow-Craft. When first initiated into the Lodge the candidate will take off any jacket, tie etc., and unbutton his shirt to the waist to bare his left breast. His right sleeve is rolled up above the elbow and his left trouser leg rolled up above his knee. He is blindfolded and a noose placed around his neck with its end hanging down his back. This symbol reminds the candidate of the dark, helpless state he is in now, but at the same time that freemasonry will enrich his life in the future. In Scottish Rite masonry the Master Mason is the third of an unlikely but possible thirty three degrees. [Some other branches would boast of 90 degrees or more!] John Lawrence writes,

Only about 40% of masons go any further than the three craft degrees. For those who would progress further the most usual avenue is through the Holy Royal Arch (or going into chapter' as it is known by many within the craft). The Holy Royal Arch is the only other Masonic order officially recognised and administered from Grand Lodge in London. Its officers are included in the Grand Lodge Yearbook, along with the craft degrees' hierarchy. This situation arose as one result of the Union of the two rival Grand Lodges, the Antients and the Moderns, in 1813. The Antients had practised the Royal Arch as a fourth degree, and as the two Grand Lodges came together it was agreed that this order would be considered a part of 'pure Antient Masonry', an extension of the three degrees. The system of advancement through the degrees is complex with each order and level having its own passwords and secrets not known to the other or lower degrees. This causes the ignorance and deception to the initiates.

The Blue Degrees... (craft masons)... are intentionally misled by false interpretations. It is not intended that he shall understand them but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands them. - Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Albert Pike, Grand Commander 1859-1891;, Reprinted 1966. [emphasis added]

The raising, or third degree, to become a Master Mason is conducted like so many Masonic rights in near darkness. A human skull and bones are placed nearby and a sheet depicting a coffin is laid on the floor. The candidate is symbolically killed by the Worshipful Master and laid out 'in death' on the sheet. He is 'raised back to life' or resurrected from the dead into Masonic life by the Master. This is one ceremony that was originally based on Christianity but is now nearer to occult practice.

As a Master Mason, he is taught the last, the most important, and the most necessary of all Truth, that having been faithful to all his trusts, he is at last to die, and to receive the reward of his fidelity. Foremost of all the truths taught and emphasized in this Degree is the Immortality of the soul of man and the certainty of the resurrection of his body to eternal life. - Stauffacher and Roney, p.11.

As already stated Royal Arch Masonry used to be part of the Third Degree of Blue Lodge Masonry. As such a Master Mason is regarded as a fully fledged Mason in the highest sense without taking any of the further degrees in York Rite or Scottish Rite Masonry.

It is impossible to place with certainty the date when the work of the Royal Arch was severed from the Third Degree of the Blue Lodge, or when Royal Arch Masonry was set up as a distinct branch of the Order... The Royal Arch is known as the "Chapter", and consists of four degrees... These degrees are implementations of the Third Degree of the Blue Lodge; they are a continuance rather than an amplification of Ancient Craft Masonry; they belong within the scope of Speculative Masonry in a much more decided sense than any other higher Degrees. -Stauffacher and Roney, p.11.

Oaths were added to masonry sometime during the 18th century. Up until 1986 the new candidate while going through the initiation ceremony of the Entered Apprentice would commit himself to the oath ". .. binding myself under no less penalty than that ofhaving my throat cut across, my tongue torn out by its roots and my body buried in the rough sands of the sea at low water mark."

The Fellow Craft degree follows a sirnilar pattern and the Master Mason puts himself "…

under no less a penalty than that of having my body severed in two, my bowels taken from thence and burned to ashes, the ashes being scattered before the four winds of heaven... ' The Master Mason also swears to keep a brother’s secrets .... . murder and treason excepted," but- in the later Royal-Arch degree murder an treason are not excepted. Thus, the Masonic oath is placed above the law and our country, with staggering implications if followed to the letter.

Whereas today the candidate does not actually verbalise these oaths the reference to the physical penalties are retained elsewhere and spoken by the mason leading the initiation. What can be seen from this is that the new candidate is still put under these oaths whether he actually speaks them or not.

Freemasonry is an exclusive group that shuts out many. The Constitution of the United Grand Lodge of England states it is for a free man, and in reputable circumstances.' Women have no part of it except a few offshoot women's lodges - and as such it can easily come between husband and wife. Its power can easily be misused for evil and favouritism simply because being a mason it would appear normal practice to do these things.

Masons will say they are not secretive, in the sense of hiding the existence of the Lodge. There are secrets though within Freemasonry such as passwords, handshakes, etc.

The Apprentice is entrusted with certain secrets of the Order, all of them moral, ethical, and wholesome, and is pledged to "keep counsel of all things spoken in Lodge or chamber by any Masons, Fellows, or Free Masons.He is invested with certain "Secrets," which, of course, he must keep inviolate and communicate them only in accordance with Masonic Law. - Stauffacher and Roney, p.10.

Masonry, like all the religions... conceals its secrets from all except the adepts and sages or the elect and uses false explanations and misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled; to conceal the truth which it calls light... Fike, p.104-105.

Such secrecy of course can lead to real problems with friends and family. It is this issue of secrecy that has been a prime point of opposition to Freemasonry by many, including the Police, and Parliament and is one of the stated reasons (along with oath taking) put forward by the Vatican for outlawing Freemasonry amongst its faitlitul.

Many deny that Freeniasomy is a religion, for example the pamphlet 'Freemasonry and Religion', 1985. However, other writings proclaim it so. It seems to depend on the social climate of the day. Whatever is said they still have hymns and prayers which incidentally are ended, 'so mote it be' similar to some satanic groups. Mong with their own form of communion~service these practices are definitely religious.

Probably in the strict definition of the word it could be argued that Freemasonry is not a religion. However, in its beliefs and practices there is no question that it is a religious institution. Many masons would believe that by their good deeds and giving to charity they are living a Christian lifestyle.

The 'religion' of Freemasonry is a bizarre mixture of pagan beliefs from Egyptian, Greek, Hindu and other cultures. Some of these practices allude to a satanic nature whose origins must be in serious doubt to any Christian. It bears no relation to, nor is it compatible with any belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. The Encyclopaedia of Freemasonry states:

Freemasonry is not Christianity nor a substitute for it... Masonry then, is indeed a religious institution and on this ground mainly, if not alone, should the religious Mason defend it. – Albert J.Mackey, 1921, pp.618-9 [emphasis added]

An interesting sidelight is that much of the symbolism of Freemasonry is from Scripture and therefore you would believe it wanted to be shown to be religious. For instance the Holy Royal Arch is all set around the three Old Testament characters, Zerubbabal, Haggai and Joshua. The explanation of the Master mason Degree already mentioned. Also, most of the passwords are biblical too, including, 'Jah'. One way of explaining the religious side often used is that,

Masonry is not a religion; it is a handmaiden to true religion. Masonry, properly understood and lived, supports and sustains a man in his relieious affiliations, better qualifies him for his religious activities, encourages and strengthens him in the performances of his religious duties, and opens up to him many opportunities for genuine services of a religious character for his fellow-men. A man should be a better church member because of his Masonry, not a poorer one. Stauffacher and Roney, p.29.

Most major denominations including the Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Church of Scotland and Methodists have all clearly stated at one time or another that Freemasonry and Christianity are definitely incompatible. Why?

First the Oaths taken are shown in Scripture to be wrong [Matthew 5:34,37 & James 5:12]. More than this they are putting the candidate under fear and bondage whereas Jesus Christ always sets free from that. [Matthew 11:28 & Romans 8:1ff.] Second, it is selective whereas the Gospel of Jesus Christ is open to all people everywhere. [John 3:16.] Third there is nothing secretive about the gospel but we are encouraged to walk in the light and be totally open. [Ephesians 5:8-14 & 1 John 1:5-7.]

Freemasonry is a mixture of many beliefs, so that a man of any religious background can worship at the same altar. All gods are welcome. You worship whichever one you want. Jesus is not unique to a mason but He is to a Christian.

It [masonry] reverences all the great reformers. It sees in Moses... Confucius... Zoroaster, in Jesus of Nazareth... great teachers of morality... if no more, and allows every brother of the order to assign to each such... characteristics as his creed and truth require - Pike, p.525.

The true mason is not creed bound... that as a mason his religion must be universal: Christ, is not Buddha, Mohammed, the name means little: for he recognises the 'light' and not the bearer - The Lost Keys of Freemasonry, Manley P.Hall.

Freemasonry is not only confined to embracing other religions, it extends to humanism, the idolatry of man, too. Freemasonry teaches perfection or 'smoothing the rough stone' through good works and exaltation of the human creation in some of its rituals.

The Supreme Being is called the Great Architect of the Universe [GAOTU] and can be whoever you want him to be. However a mason is not allowed to mention the name of Jesus Christ in a Lodge and so He is ruled out.

In much of the symbolism of Freemasonry there are clear indications of Occult influence. We need to be aware of this danger as the following examples show. (See also C2.4.4.]

The symbols and instructions of Degree 28 are said to be full of Kabbala and Alchemy. The Kabbala has been described as 'a hand book of Hebrew occultism' and Alchemy was originally connected with the Egyptian god Osiris and magical powers.

Degree 32 brings a connection to the 'all seeing eye'. This also represents Osiris, an Egyptian god whose annual death and resurrection personified fertility.

Probably the most publicised of these was the P2 Lodge affair in the 1980's. This linked the collapse of a major Italian bank with shadowy Freemasonry-Mafia-KGB dealings. Some speculate that this was a plot to destabilise the political scene in Italy, part of the southern flank of NATO.

God's secret name in masonry is Jah-Bul-On which traditionally is supposed to represent Jehovah, Baal and Osiris the Egyptian sun God. In Februnry 1989 a public statement was made that they would not use this name anymore. Considering it was used in secret it is difficult to know if this is true or not.

A password in a higher degree is 'Abaddon', the name of a king of demons; the angel of the bottomless pit, Revelation 9:11. In another degree the candidate is asked a question and his reply must be, 'I am that I am.' Could a true Christian apply God's own words equally to himself and not consider it blasphemy?

There is some question about whether Pike actually taught that Lucifer is God or whether this is a forgery. We have noted the quotation below and even if proved to be a forgery there are enough other references to conclude that this is what he believed and implied.

To you, Soveneign Grand Inspectors General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the brethren... The Masonic Religion should be, by all of us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the Lucifer in doctrine. If Lucifer were not God, would Adonay (the Christian God) whose deeds prove his cruelty, perfidy and hatred of man... yes, Lucifer is god, and unfortunately Adonay is also god... There is no light without shade... for the absolute can only exist as two gods... This the doctrine of Satanism is heresy and the true and pure philosophical religion is the belief in Lucifer, the equal of Adonay, but Lucifer, God of Light and God of good is struggling for humanity against Adonay, the God of Darkness and Evil.

When the Mason... has learned the Mystery of his Craft, the seething energies of Lucifer are in his hands and before he may step onward and upward he must prove his ability to properly apply this energy. - Hall, p.48.

Freemasonry deliberately misleads the initiates of the lower degrees with false religious interpretations, even suggesting in some degrees that Lucifer is their light! Aleister Crowley was once a mason and something he learned in the secrecy of a lodge led him and other masons to form an occult splinter group. Crowley became one of the most infamous Satanists of this century!

Man is a god in the making... when his light shines out... he receives the triple crown of godhood and joins the throne of Master Masons... Isaiah 43:10-11. A Master Mason... for him the heavens, its power thrilling the Master until his own being seems filled with its divinity saying 'This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased" - Hall, pp.92, 54-~5.

There is only one for whom these words were uttered and it was not a Master Mason. Jesus Christ is God's only Son and the only mediator between man and God. [Luke 3:22, Mark 1:11 & Matthew 3:17.1 Can you be the same in Church on Sunday morning as in the Lodge on Saturday night?

The oaths are taken on the Volume of the Sacred Law [VOSL] which in Britain is normally a Bible. However, in respective countries it can equally be the Koran or any Hindu or other religious writings. John Lawrence relates that,

Lodges are permitted to use any holy writing as their sacred volume, any or all! Harry Carr states that in Lodge Singapore(No. 7178) there are four different volumes on the pedestal at any one time, whilst in the Grand Lodge of Iran there are three versions in use (the Koran, the Zend Avesta and the King James Version of the Bible). Masonry thus holds that all volumes sacred to men are equally valid. - Lawrence, p.70

The teachers, even of Christianity are, in general the most ignorant of the true meaning of that which they teach. There is no Book of which so little is known as the Bible. To most who read it it is as incomprehensible as the Sohav... The Bible... expresses, in an incomplete and veiled manner only the religious science of the Hebrews... The doctrine of Moses and the prophets, identical... with that of ancient Egyptians... The Hebrew books were written only to recall to memory the traditions... thus was a second bible born... uncomprehended by the Christians: a collection they say of monstrous absurdities.

In a loving manner show from the above information that Freemasonry and Christianity are not compatible and if one tries to live in both camps we are trying to serve two masters.

Some years ago I was in partnership with my stepfather. He was a Freemason, a past Master of his lodge and initiated into the higher degrees of Royal Arch. I met many of his associates and noted how Freemasonry had infiltrated every social level and occupation.

At the age of twenty-one, I explored the possibility of joining a lodge. I had to be proposed then seconded and my background looked into before an interview at the Masonic Hall. The reference check into my past should not take long, I remember thinking, in view of the influential people I had met and their access to confidential data. I was accepted and went through an unnerving ceremony of initiation to become an Entered Apprentice, the first degree. The next step was to Fellow Craft and then to the third degree, of Master Mason.

It was during the ceremony of raising to Master mason that I began to feel doubt and concern. The temple was in darkness but for the light of a solitary candle. There were a skull and a pair of crossed bones positioned nearby. A sheet, depicting a full sized coffin was laid on the floor. During the proceedings I was given a 'fatal' but symbolic blow to the head by the Worshipful Master and laid out as in death on the coffin symbol. Moments passed and I was eventually 'raised back to life' by the Master of the Lodge. I had been in effect resurrected from death into a life of Freemasonry. This black parody was in contradiction to what the Bible teaches about life through Christ.

The doubts grew and the searching continued. I was led to Jesus and I committed my life to Him, it was only then that reality dawned; the cause of my spiritual numbness and dryness became clear. . . . Freemasonry! How could I, as a man professing to be a true Christian, accept the doctrines of an organisation that purposely deletes the name of Jesus Christ from all its teachings? During the raising ceremony I had been reborn into a dark and secretive order, not into the light and truth as Freemasonry deceptively teaches. The God of the Bible is Light, in Him there is no darkness at all. Yet if we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness we lie and do not live by the truth, 1 John 1:5-7

Rosicrusians, heavily influenced by the occult, went underground around 1617 but surfaced in 1717 when the Grand Lodge was formed. Their beliefs influenced several Lodges being formed.

This group began in 1790 with the opening of Court No. 1 at the Old Crown Inn, Kirkgate, Leeds. They met in the Masonic Lodge and many of its founder members were masons. They believed that no man should be prevented from being a member provided he 'believed in the glorious Creator.' Its aim was to unite the virtuous and good in all sects and denominations of men. Today the AOF is one of Britain's largest and oldest Friendiy Societies however the roots and influence of freemasonry are clearly seen.

If a mason wants to leave the Society he could face all sorts of persecutions and problems do not need to add to them by being condemnatory. Just piling everything you know on him will not help either. For a start he will not believe you and will have no reason to change his life. If the person you are talking to is not a Christian he may also have no reason to change anyway. To such a one it is probably best to make as clear presentation of the gospel and face the question of freemasonry when it arises.

To a mason who also claims to be a Christian - build a bridge of love - because you want to reach him with the gospel. Ask questions about whether he feels Freemasonry is compatible with Christianity especially centring on the fact that we cannot serve two masters. Make a loving presentation of some points in C. above.

A Candidate is required to take a blood curdling oath of secrecy BEFORE he can possible learn the true nature of Masonic beliefs, or what its secrets are.
Such oath-taking is forbidden by Christ (Matthew 5:34). Also the promise made to allow the body be mutilated should the candidate break the secrecy, also contravenes God' law.
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

We are told in Ephesians 5 not to have fellowship with 'the unfruitful works of darkness' but rather expose them. Christianity is God's revealed religion, has to do with light and open-ness, and secrecy is condemned. Read Isaiah 45:19 and John 18:20.

Although this statement may seem surprising, the 'brotherhood' found in the movement is not that of the New Testament.

To attain 32nd degree in Freemasonry it is necessary to drink red wine from a replica of a human skull, as a symbol of allegiance. They believe that Jesus's blood dripped into Adam's skull at the base of the cross and sware an oath to that fact.

In a book written in 1889 by Albert Pike, the Grand Supreme Pontiff of Freemasonry, he pinpoints its ultimate principle:

"The true and philosophic religion is the belief in Lucifer,
the equal of Adonai, but Lucifer,
the god of light and of good,
is struggling for humanity"

Another pronouncement by the same Masonic supreme dated 14 February 1889, addressed to the 23 Supreme Councils of the world, within a cloud of secrecy, is historically recorded:

"To you sovereign Grand Inspector Generals, we say this. You may repeat the following statement to the 32nd, 31st and 30th degree Masons only. The Masonic Religion should be by all of us initiates of the higher degrees, maintained in the purity of the Luciferian Doctrine, for if Lucifer were not god, would Adonai (My Lord), God of the Christians bother to spread harmful statements against him. Yes, Lucifer is god".

PRAYER OF RELEASE FOR FREEMASONS
AND THEIR DESCENDANTS

If you were once a Mason or are a descendant of a Mason, we recommend that you pray through the following prayer from your heart. Don't be like the Masons who are given their obligations and oaths one line at a time and without prior knowledge of the requirements. Please read it through first so you know what is involved. It is best to pray this aloud with a Christian witness or counsellor present. We suggest a brief pause following each paragraph to allow the Holy Spirit to show any additional issues which may require attention.

"Father God, creator of heaven and earth, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ your Son. I come as a sinner seeking forgiveness and cleansing from all sins committed against you and others made in your image. I honour my earthly father and mother and all of my ancestors of flesh and blood, and of the spirit by adoption and godparents, but I utterly turn away from and renounce all their sins. I forgive all my ancestors for the effects of their sins on me and my children. I confess and renounce all of my own sins. I renounce and rebuke Satan and every spiritual power of his affecting me and my family.

I renounce and forsake all involvement in Freemasonry or any other lodge or craft by my ancestors and myself. I renounce witchcraft, the principal spirit behind Freemasonry, and 1 renounce Baphomet, the Spirit of Antichrist and the curse of the Luciferian doctrine. I renounce the idolatry, blasphemy, secrecy and deception of Masonry at every level of specifically renounce the insecurity, the love of position and power, the love of money, avarice or greed, and the pride which would have led my ancestors into Masonry. I renounce all the fears which held them in Masonry, especially the fears of death, fears of men, and fears of trusting, in the name of Jesus Christ.

I renounce every position held in the lodge by any of my ancestors, including "Tyler," "Master," "Worshipful Master," or any other. I renounce and forsake the oaths taken and the curses involved in the Royal Master Degree of the York Rite; the Select Master Degree with its penalty to have my hands chopped off to the stumps, to have my eyes plucked out from their sockets, and to have my body quartered and thrown among the rubbish of the Temple.

I renounce and forsake the oaths taken and the curses involved in the Super Excellent Master Degree along with the penalty of having my thumbs cut off, my eyes put out, my body bound in fetters and brass, and conveyed captive to a strange land; and also of the Knights Order of the Red Cross, along with the penalty of having my house torn down and my being hanged on the exposed timbers.

I renounce all fear of insanity, anguish, death wishes, suicide and death in the name of Jesus Christ. Death was conquered by Jesus Christ, and He alone holds the keys of death and hell, and I rejoice that He holds my life in His hands now. He came to give me life abundantly and eternally, and I believe His promises.

I renounce all anger, hatred, murderous thoughts, revenge, retaliation, spiritual apathy, false religion, all unbelief, especially unbelief in the Holy Bible as God's Word, and all compromise of God's Word. I renounce all spiritual searching into false religions, and all striving to please God. I rest in the knowledge that 1 have found my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and that He has found me.

I will burn all objects in my possession which connect me with all lodges and occultic organisations including Masonry, Witchcraft and Mormonism, and all regalia, aprons, books of rituals, rings and other jewellery. I renounce the effects these or other objects of Masonry, such as the compass, the square, the noose or the blindfold, have had on me or my family, in Jesus Name.

(1) Symbolically remove the blindfold (hoodwink) and give it to the Lord for disposal;

(3) Symbolically cut and remove the noose from around the neck gather it up with the cable-tow running down the body and give it all to the Lord for His disposal;

(4) Renounce the false Freemasonry marriage covenant, removing from the 4th finger of the right hand the ring of this false marriage covenant, giving it to the Lord to dispose of it;

(6) symbolically remove all Freemasonry regalia and armour, especially the Apron;

(7) Invite participants to repent of and seek forgiveness for having walked on all unholy ground, including Freemasonry lodges and temples, including any Mormon or other occultic Masonic organisations.

Two eminent
Churchmen declare
"Satanism is practised in the Vatican!"

In recent weeks, a firestorm has been raging in Italy. The controversy revolves around the statements Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo, who made formal allegations that satanic activity is taking place inside the Vatican. When questioned by the Italian press about the allegations, he said that he stood by them. The Archbishop chose the Fatima 2000 International Congress on World Peace held in Rome in November 1996 hosted by the Fatima Crusadermagazine as a platform to first make these allegations public.

The Fatima 2000 Congress was sponsored by publisher Father Nicholas Gruner, who has spent the past 18 years attempting to persuade the Vatican to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as She requested in apparitions to three shepherd children at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917. Father Gruner has also sought disclosure of the Third Secret, which has been kept under lock and key in the Vatican since it was delivered there in 1957 and read by Pope John XXIII in private.

Archbishop Milingo, who works inside the Vatican, as the Special Delegate to The Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Immigrants and Itinerants, is uniquely qualified to speak on the issue of Satanism. Besides his responsibilities in the Vatican, the Archbishop is a world renowned veteran exorcist. These allegations by Milingo are particularly interesting to informed Catholics because the statements that the Archbishop is making are very similar to the recent book written by the well respected Catholic writer, Dr. Malachi Martin.

Dr. Martin s new book, Windswept House, which was published in 1996, was written as fiction, but renown author and editor Father Charles Fiore, FSSP, claims in his review of the book, which was printed in the Catholic Family News, July 1996, that it is "a novel in which actual persons and events are disguised as fiction."

Dr. Martin s book is shocking because in it he describes a satanic ritual which took place at Saint Paul s Chapel inside Vatican City, on June 29, 1963. Windswept House gives a scary depiction of high ranking Churchmen taking oaths signed with their own blood, who plot to destroy the Church from within and participate in meticulously enacted rituals that blaspheme and devilishly mimic the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

When Malachi Martin was questioned in Fatima shortly after the Archbishop's speech, he said, "Archbishop Milingo is a good Bishop and his contention that there are Satanists in Rome is completely correct. Anybody who is acquainted with the state of affairs in the Vatican in the last 35 years is well aware that the prince of darkness has had and still has his surrogates in the court of St. Peter in Rome."

Dr. Martin concluded his statement by discussing the importance of the work of Father Nicholas Gainer, by saying "Father Gruner is fulfilling a desperately needed function in the ongoing perception of Mary's role in the salvation of our imperilled world. Father Gruner is absolutely correct that the consecration of Russia as- Our Lady desired, has not been executed. It may not be too late if Father Gainer's plea is heeded in time."

Dr. Martin was Secretary to Cardinal Bea in the Vatican. Dr. Martin says that Cardinal Bea was shown the Third Secret by Pope John XMII, and came out of the meeting visibly shaken, expressing his distress to Dr. Martin that the Pope was not going to reveal the Third Secret to the world. Dr. Martin also confirms that the content of the Third Secret is the unprecedented crisis in contemporary Catholicism and the failure of the Hierarchy to adequately address it.

In conclusion, it appears obvious that Satanism is now, and has been, existing inside the walls of the Vatican itself. Through the courageous and reputable testimony of Archbishop Milingo and Dr. Malachi Martin, this deeply buried Vatican secret is surfacing at long last.

Your novel depicts an international plot by Vatican insiders and internationalists to install a new Pope and establish a "New World Order." How fictional is this story line?

Not very. There is an unspoken alliance today between powers inside the Vatican and leaders of major inter- national humanist organizations who would change the Roman Catholic Church from a sacred institution to one whose primary function is to act as a stabilizing social force ill the world. They see the church as the only global structure able to do this. The one obstacle is John Paul II. He is seen as a defender of medieval traditions. They want a Pope who shares their more liberal, globalist view.

Cardinals of the church, the men who will elect the next Pope. I describe them as conciliarists. The Church today is divided. Monolithic faith is gone. The new rival factions: traditionalists who prefer the church as it was before the reforms of the Second Vatican Council and conciliarists who want to liberalize church doctrine on everything from divorce and contraception to abortio n and homosexuality. The numbers are about even, but conciliarists hold the positions of power. They think John Paul II is too conservative; traditionalists don't think he is conservative enough

Academia, foundations, nongovernmental organizations, even some governmental agencies. They have vast re- sources devoted to population control, education and economic and social stabilization. If they can get the Roman Catholic Church to side with them in the social and cultural field in a world that is dysfunctional, they'll have another element of stability.

It's not a conspiracy, but it's deliberate. Conciliarists and non-church globalists think the same way. Neither likes the Pope's policies. They are preparing for the selection of the next Pope. Why write this as fiction? Why not name names?

Some of the cardinals involved are well respected and loved. Understandably, many people would react emotionally in defence of the cardinals and would miss the larger point.

The third Fatima 2000 International Congress on World Peace was held in Rome, November 1996. Among those participating were about 100 delegates including bishops, priests and nuns. It was there that Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo chose to make public formal allegations that satanic activity is taking place inside the Vatican, in a speech entitled "Good and Evil Toward the Year 2000". This Archbishop works in the Vatican as the Special Delegate to the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Immigrants and Itinerants. He is also an official exorcist and has written several books.

"The devil within the Church today is actually protected by certain Church authorities from the official devil-hunter in the Church - the exorcist. So much so that the exorcist today is forbidden to attack the devil. The devil is so protected that the one who is the hunter, the exorcist, is forbidden to do his job."

Such shocking statements from a prelate working within the Vatican naturally caused a commotion in major secular newspapers in Italy. The largest Rome daily, "Il Messaggero" gave front-page headlines to the archbishop's accusations. Three days later, in a press conference, Archbishop Milingo was asked the question, "Are there men of the curia who are followers of Satan?". His response:

"Certainly there are priests and bishops. I stop at this level of ecclesiastical hierarchy because I am an archbishop, higher than this I cannot go."

This is a powerful and alarming statement! A few words need to be said on their implications. According to Catholic moral principle the Archbishop would first be obliged in conscience to keep the matter private. He would be obligated, if possible and prudent, to admonish the guilty persons. From there he would be obligated to seek higher authority in the Vatican. He could easily inform even John Paul II himself. All else failing he could make the accusations public in a more desperate attempt to get outside help and to protect the public. It is safe to assume by his public accusation that the higher authorities HAVE BEEN informed and are doing nothing about it.

Furthermore, the words of the archbishop just quoted are carefully worded so as to avoid being asked any further incriminating questions, such as, "Is John Paul II or Cardinal Ratzinger involved in Satanism?". Unfortunately the words, "I stop at this level... because I am an archbishop", already tend to be incriminating by their silence as to the involvement of those who are higher than the archbishop.

Normally, the Press and Mass Media are known to jump at the chance to repeatedly cover scandalous and shocking stories especially when it involves apostate or heretical priests, feminist nuns, and moral scandals among the Catholic clergy. It is something they like to put the focus on. It is quite curious and suspicious that, even though this story made headlines in the major press of Italy at the time, the U.S. media completely ignored the story - a story that is quite newsworthy and even a major historical incident as it involves an archbishop in good standing who works within the Vatican itself.

A conservative, pro-christian magazine, "The New American" covered this story in their March 3, 1997 issue. They reportedly called the Associated Press office in New York and asked about Archbishop Milingo and why the AP did not cover such a sensational story:

"After checking its database, a researcher at AP's international news desk informed us, "Oh, he's got a big old mouth" and is always spouting "a lot of insanity.""

Why in this case does the Press step out of character and worry whether what someone says is true or not? Since when does the Media and press "judge" for themselves whether something is false, and censor the coverage? Would it not be normal for the Press and media to cover such a sensational story as an archbishop in the Vatican itself who makes a public accusation that there is "satanism" in the upper hierarchy? If they felt it was untrue, what would prevent the Media from covering the story with such a slant as to make the archbishop seem a little fanatical? That would not seem out of step with their usual liberal coverage of conservatives in general.

The bottom line is that this story is quite newsworthy. It is even difficult to imagine such a story being printed on page two! We can safely conclude two things from these curious actions of the Press:

1) The central control which the Mass Media has throughout the world such that they can create a complete black-out on a news item that does not suit their purposes.

2) The anti-Christian, liberal Media apparently does not want to help Archbishop Milingo in his desperate attempt to make such a fact public in order to force an investigation through the pressures of public knowledge. It would seem safe to assume that the Mass Media does in fact feel that such a thing could very well be true, and that silence on their part helps prevent anything from seriously being done to investigate and remedy any problems uncovered. It would seem quite in step with a liberal mentality to delight in the thought of the Catholic Church being infected with satanism.

The actions of the Press in regard to satanism infecting the Church can be directly compared with the actions of the world-wide Press in regard to the invasion of Communism in so many parts of the world several decades ago. In 1937 Pope Pius XI wrote in an encyclical:

"A third powerful factor in the diffusion of communism is the conspiracy of silence on the part of a large section of the non-Catholic press of the world. We say conspiracy, because it is impossible otherwise to explain how a press usually so eager to exploit even the little daily incidents of life has been able to remain silent for so long about the horrors perpetrated in Russia, in Mexico and even in a great part of Spain; and that it should have relatively so little to say concerning a world organization as vast as Russian communism. This silence is due in part to shortsighted political policy, and is favored by various occult forces which for a long time have been working for the overthrow of the Christian social order."

It can be seen that the situations are quite similar. In this same encyclical Pope Pius XI calls communism, "the satanic scourge". This kinship between communism and satanism can be seen more clearly by the words of a few knowledgeable authorities:

"Humanism is the denial of God, and the total affirmation of man... Humanism is really nothing else but Marxism." - Karl Marx

"Thus heaven I've forfeited, I know it full well. My soul, once true to God, Is chosen for hell." - from a poem by Karl Marx

"The hellish vapors rise and fill the brain, Till I go mad and my heart is utterly changed. See this sword? The prince of darkness Sold it to me. For me he beats the time and give the signs. Ever more boldly I play the dance of death." - from poem "The Player" by Karl Marx

"Every religious idea, every idea of a god, even flirting with the idea of god is unutterable vileness of the most dangerous kind, disease of the most abominable kind. Millions of sins, filthy deeds, acts of violence and physical contagions are far less dangerous than the subtle, spiritual idea of a god..." - V.I. Lenin

"Within the philosophical system of Marx and Lenin, and at the heart of their psychology, hatred of God is the principal driving force, more fundamental than their political and economic pretensions. Militant atheism is not merely incidental or marginal to Communist policy; it is not a side effect, but the central pivot. To achieve its diabolical ends, Communism needs to control a population devoid of religious and national feeling, and this entails the destruction of faith and nationhood. Communists proclaim both of these objectives openly, and just as openly go about carrying them out." - Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Nobel-Prize winning author and philosopher

"We are for a Lenin who is alive... In building our future we are basing ourselves upon the gigantic intellectual and moral potential of the socialist idea linked with the theory of Marxism-Leninism..." - Mikhail Gorbachev, 1989.

Without hearing the details behind the accusation of Archbishop Milingo no one can really make a judgment other than to research the prelate's personal history and determine his personal credibility. This can help, but such a method is faulty because even a person with a low credibility can very well speak truthfully and accurately on such a serious topic. What we must do is to determine the credibility of the allegation based on objective historical facts that have no connection with the Archbishop.

DOCTRINALLY: Can satanism infect the upper hierarchy of the Catholic Church and to what extent?

HISTORICALLY: Is there evidence of satanism infecting the hierarchy of the Church?

Taking this latter consideration first, we have the testimony of two former Communist members bearing witness to the infiltration of this "satanic scourge" into the Church.

Bella V. Dodd spent a good deal of her prime adult years working for the Communist Party in America. During the 1930's and 1940's she worked diligently for the Communist cause in America while she taught school, participated in Unions, practised law and involved herself in politics in order to bring socialism upon the country. In the early 1950's she became disillusioned by the lie of Communism, broke with the party, and was instructed in the Catholic Faith by none other than Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. She was baptized by Bishop Sheen in April of 1952.

At that time she gave lectures to expose the satanic scourge and testified that:

"In the 1930's, we put eleven hundred men into the priesthood in order to destroy the Church from within."

"Right now they are in the highest places, and they are working to bring about change in order that the Catholic Church will no longer be effective against Communism."

She also said that the changes would be so drastic that, "you will not recognize the Catholic Church."

Manning Johnson, a former official of the Communist Party in America, gave the following testimony in 1953 to the House Un-American Activities Committee:

"Once the tactic of infiltration of religious organizations was set by the Kremlin... the Communists discovered that the destruction of religion could proceed much faster through infiltration of the Church by Communists operating within the Church itself. The Communist leadership in the United States realized that the infiltration tactic in this country would have to adapt itself to American conditions and the religious make-up peculiar to this country. In the earliest stages it was determined that with only small forces available to them, it would be necessary to concentrate Communist agents in the seminaries. The practical conclusion drawn by the Red leaders was that these institutions would make it possible for a small Communist minority to influence the ideology of future clergymen in the paths conducive to Communist purposes."

"This policy of infiltrating seminaries was successful beyond even our communist expectations."

The Catholic Dispatch has recently corresponded with a young man who desires to enter the seminary but has been having trouble. Here are the words of his first-hand experience:

"What I really feel uneasy about is one of the vocation directors attitude toward orthodox catholics, he makes jokes about them. I also feel a bit shaken about advice I got from good priests who said that when I get to the seminary I should just nod my head and go along so I just get through, then in priesthood I can become a vocal orthodox priest. Why do we have to hide? Like I mentioned before, the interview I had during my application to the seminary was very disturbing as it was clear they wanted candidates who are out there to 'change' the church."

"He then began to ask me about how I would handle it if church teaching changed, would I be able to change also with such rigid views on things. What about social justice? I asked what he meant by this.... He then explained to me this was feeding the poor and things of the beatitudes. I was dumbfounded by this because I thought that this was all a part of being a priest anyhow."

"That's about all I can remember from this interview. It was over two and a half years ago. Since then I have found out that this particular priest is a major player in the local anti-church movement, big on changing church teaching, plenty of homosexual lifestyle change stuff from what I have seen."

"I have also talked to other holy priests about this interview and they said the same thing, it wasn't my past that kept me from the seminary, it was my firm stance for the truth"

In 1937 Pope Pius XI stated that "the Papacy.... has called public attention to the perils of Communism more frequently and more effectively than any other public authority on earth."

This has also changed. The Church has become almost completely silent in regard to communism since the early 1960's at a time when it was needed more than ever. Even though Hitler died in 1945 and the danger of Nazism ended, we never cease to hear about the alleged 6 million "Jews" who were killed under his command. Yet, according to the "Guinness Book of World Records" (1979) these killings ranked only third to the mass-killings by the Communists who, during this century, have murdered more than 40 million people up to 1965 (a great portion of whom were Christians). Are not these deaths worthy of commemoration?

This threat is still upon us! The silence betokens the great extent of the influence of this satanic scourge. During the Second Council of the Vatican, 454 Council Fathers managed to sign a petition requesting that Communism receive explicit treatment. The petition was "mysteriously" misplaced, the only mention of Communism being in one footnote of its entire 16 documents.

It is interesting to note that Archbishop Milingo, during his speech, referred to a statement by Pope Paul VI in 1972 when he spoke on the damage to the Catholic Church since the Council saying, "From somewhere or other, the smoke of Satan has entered the temple of God." Paul VI is also reported to have said around that time that we "are witnessing the auto-demolition of the Church." The sad part about this is that, since then, nothing has been done to reverse the decline of the Church in general and stop the ever-growing instances of heresies spreading throughout the Church.

Archbishop Milingo's accusations are certainly shocking, and the average person might very well deny them simply because they are "unpleasant" or "stressful". But we all know that to ignore a threat does not make it go away, rather, it makes one more defenceless against the danger. All through Church history Christians have had to face very trying and unprecedented circumstances. Such were fought by courageous people who faced the problem without losing their heads.

History shows that the most terrible scourges damaging the Church were caused by men within the Church who fell into, and spread errors against the Faith. Such an evil is called heresy: crime worse than murder because it kills souls rather than bodies. It is Satan, the devil, who wishes to spread heresy and corrupt the Faith of the people ideally by corrupting men of the clergy whom the people more readily follow.

What does the Church teach, or allow Catholics to believe, when it comes to corruption within the Church? Most Catholics have heard of the Apparitions at La Salette, France in the mid-1800's. The Church has allowed Catholics to believe the message which Our Lady gave there. Among other things, Our Lady warned the children that:

What do the Saints and Doctors of the Church teach when it comes to a Pope and corruption? We can read quotes from Saints who teach positively that a Pope can, in fact, fall into any heresy:

"...a pope who is a manifest heretic by that fact ceases to be pope and head, just as he by that fact ceases to be a Christian and a member of the body of the Church;" - St. Robert Bellarmine, "De Romano Pontifice"

"Now when he [the Pope] is explicitly a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church must either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See." - St. Francis de Sales, "A Catholic Controversy". (1596)

"(2) ob fidem (on account of his faith or rather want of faith, i.e. heresy). In point of fact however, heresy is the only legitimate ground. For a heretical pope has ceased to be a member of the Church, and cannot, therefore, be its head." - Catholic Encyclopedia (1913) [Vol. IV p.435] COUNCILS

"An heretical pope necessarily ceases to be head of the Church, for by his heresy he is no longer a member thereof: in the event of his still claiming the Roman see a general council, improperly so-called because without the pope, could remove him. But this is not deposition, since by his own act he is no longer pope." - A CATHOLIC DICTIONARY, Attwater (1954) . Deposition

The Catholic Encyclopedia article on ANTICHRIST mentions that St. Bernard, Cardinal Newman and others believed that the only way the antichrist could possibly deceive "if it were possible even the elect" is by becoming an "antipope" - one whom the world at large believes is a true Pope but in actual fact is not, due to the heresy which is promoted and to which the people will become blinded. The only Pope who has historically been condemned for heresy was a Pope Honorius - condemned immediately after his death simply for doing nothing about an error which a Patriarch was promoting in his own district, and of which the Pope had knowledge of!

In 1917 Our Lady specifically made mention of the errors from Russia that would be spread if people did not cease to sin, do penance and make reparation. Our Lady asked that the "third secret" be revealed in 1960. Since then differing reasons have been given to keep from revealing the message such as that, "it does not apply" today, or that it lends itself to "sensationalism".

We don't necessarily have to wait for this "secret" to be revealed by a Pope. The Divine Providence of God, if He so wills, can have this secret revealed by other means than the reading of it from a piece of paper. This accusation of "satanism" in the Vatican could very well directly concern this secret by force of events.

The following excerpts are given for the sake of interest and have been included to supplement the information already given.

Blessed Catherine Emmerick, an Augustinian nun born in Germany in 1774, spent her life suffering, and died in 1824. She bore the stigmata of Our Lord and had many visions and prophecies about the Church, including the following:

"Once more I saw that the Church of Peter was undermined by a plan evolved by the secret sect, while storms were damaging it."

"I now see that in this place (Rome) the Church is being so cleverly undermined, that there hardly remain a hundred or so priests who have not been deceived. They all work for destruction, even the clergy. A great devastation is now near at hand."

"I also saw the various regions of the earth. My Guide (Jesus) named Europe, and, pointing to a small and sandy region, He uttered these remarkable words: 'Here is Prussia, the enemy.' Then He showed me another place, to the north, and He said: 'This is Moskva, the land of Moscow, bringing many evils."

"Then, I saw that everything that pertained to Protestantism was gradually gaining the upper hand, and the Catholic religion fell into complete decadence. Most priests were lured by the glittering but false knowledge of young school-teachers, and they all contributed to the work of destruction... In those days, Faith will fall very low, and it will be preserved in some places only, in a few cottages and in a few families which God has protected from disasters and wars."

"I see many excommunicated ecclesiastics who do not seem to be concerned about it, nor even aware of it. Yet, they are excommunicated whenever they cooperate to enterprises, enter associations, and embrace opinions on which an anathema has been cast"

"I saw again the new and odd-looking Church which they were trying to build. There was nothing holy about it... People were kneading bread in the crypt below... but it would not rise, nor did they receive the body of Our Lord, but only bread. Those who were in error, through no fault of their own, and who piously and ardently longed for the Body of Jesus were spiritually consoled, but not by their communion. Then my Guide [Jesus] said: 'THIS IS BABEL.'"

"...this translation of the Church from one place to another meant that she would seem to be in complete decline. But she would rise again; even if there remained but one Catholic, the Church would conquer again because she does not rest on human counsels and intelligence. It was also shown to me that there were almost no Christians left in the old acceptation of the word."
