The line leading to the left points to where James Russell was wounded, walking home from class between Lake Hall and the old Memorial Gym (about 2 feet away from where the Gym Annex now is.) The line leading off to the right leads to where Donald McKenzie was shot, across Midway Drive in front of Dunbar Hall. The area where 6 of the students were shot (including all four of the students that were killed) is now paved over. Note that the closest student to be shot was at least 60 feet away, and all but one were more than a hundred feet away. All but two were 200 feet away, one was 255 feet away, the others were 300 to 400 feet away but one - he was 700 feet from the closest National Guardsman. The letters stand for the students as indicated below.
