Remembrance Awards

Valley of the Shadow was the first-ever recipient of this award (1998). This site looks at the Civil War from the perspective of two communitites on either side of the Mason Dixon Line: Staunton, Virginia and Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Teacher's Guide to the Holocaust. The name of this site is fairly self-explanatory - the first addition to the class of 1999, this page uses ease of navigation and thorough research to bring light to an important issue in world history.

The Remembrance Awards were created in 1998 to commemorate American students' homepages. The Awards are given semi-annually, and can be awarded to any student in an American college or university or any other page that maintains a homepage on the World Wide Web that seeks to educate America and the world on an historical event, or in any aspect of education. The awards are given based upon initial impression by the author of this site, and are not affiliated with Kent State University. I will maintain a page with links to all winners of the award, arranged by subject. The only qualifications are: If you would like to nominate a site, email the administrator of this page and leave your name, email, URL, and site topic. Sites will be visited and judged within 2-4 weeks. The winners will receive email notification within a week before the posting of the awards.
