The GWIS of is an outcome of the project "National Water Master Plan of Jordan" executed in 1995-97 by the German Technical Assistance (GTZ). Using his own software, Ground Water for Windows, J. Karanjac and associated project staff entered information from about 4,500 wells into a computerized data base. The data include: lithology (2500+ wells), stratigraphy, chemistry (single samples from 1300+ wells, and time series), abstractions(entire country in 1994-96), water levels, wadi flows, spring discharges, rainfall, etc. The GWIS creates and stores cross sections, fence diagrams, various chemical diagrams, contour maps (chemical, piezometric, stratigraphic, and topographic), etc.
J. Karanjac also acted as a hydrogeologist in the project providing resources on the geology and hydrogeology of Jordan. During the project, in several training sessions J.Karanjac trained about 20 professionals from the Ministry of Water & Irrigation of Jordan in using the Ground Water for Windows (GWW) software for ground water data processing.
