Scenes over Breakfast

Black coffee, fried eggs. Shouting cooks, screaming waitresses.

People happily hung over discussing an evening's exploits. A lonely dog sits tied to a parking meter outside.

The girl at the table next to me looks like an ex-girlfriend. She may actually be an ex-girlfriend. I look over; she glowers. Inconclusive. The coffee is drunk. The cheque is paid. I leave.
