Bhai Saheb Bhai Randheer Singh jee
Bhai Randheer Singh jee was a great
soul, a lover of keertan and Gurbaanee. His love for
Gursikhee touched hundreds of souls who came in his
company. In keeping with the Khalsa tradition, he fought
for indepence from the British Rule over the Sikh
Kingdom. He was arrested and kept in jail for this by the
British rulers. He never left his dedication to Sikhee
even in jail. He brought back the love for the Khalsa code of conduct and Khalsa Baanaa (dress) in hundreds of Gursikhs around him. For his services to the Khalsa Nation he was honoured by the Akaal Takhat with the title of Bhai Saaheb. His personal associates describe him as a man who would not get tired of keertan and baanee. He could listen to a full continuous reading of Guru Granth Saheb (48 hours) in one sitting. When sangat came to his village for Keertan and simran smagams he would serve them lovingly. When the program was over he would walk them to the bus/train station. The congregation had to draw a line on the ground, at times, and order him to stay put and not follow them all the way to the station. He would obey, standing there singing shabads, tears of love flowing through his eyes. |
