This article is not really valid because there is a basic factual error. The article in the encyclopedia analyses Avesta and the description of Mithra in  there. Mithra religion is much older and the cult of Mithra in Rome not necessarily identical to the old Mithra religion. The article barks up the wrong tree. I wonder if it is on purpose.
