NAKED IN THE RAIN

By: Joshua J. Johnson

I love the rain

I love the sweet scent

The air after a shower

I love the taste of a drop

As it lands softly upon my tongue

Caressing my very nature

Feeding my urge

I love the rain

On this morning I shed my clothes

I shed my fears

And with them I shed my tears

I bared my existence

Open and free

Naked I stood

As the rain fell softly upon my flesh

Cleansing my soul

My spirit is uplifted

Open I'm me

Naked in the rain

I love the rain

The way it makes me feel

Alive and well

As it splashes over my flesh

I love the rain

The way it mixes with my tears

As I remember you

And the times we shared

I love the rain

As it fits me so very well

It soaks my flesh

And feeds my emptiness

My thirst

On this the morning of my life

I awake to the sound of the rain

I crawl from my bed

Walk slowly to the door

Step naked to the rain

As it washes over my being

I shed another tear

For no one will know my pain

As I stand naked in the rain.
