LACK OF SLEEP (INSOMNIAC)

BY: Joshua J. Johnson 12 SEP 99

There's a spider on the wall

As my skin begins to crawl

Pull the covers tight

As I prepare for this night

Voices in my head

Can't make them go away

Am I living, am I dead?

Close my eyes and pray

Shadows in the darkness

I know I heard a voice

Paranoia takes its hold

My skin an icy cold

Eyes that burn

Bloody red

Mind gone numb

Visions in my head

Cold white eyes

Stare at me from the dark

Everything around me

Slowly comes to life

The sound of my own breath

Enough to jump-start my heart

My fingers dig my own flesh

Growing anticipation of death

My mind on the edge of collapse

as the first ray of sunlight

pierces my blinds

Slowly the evils of night fade

and reality once again takes its grip

Yet another night without sleep

I am insomniac
