CANDLEDANCE
(c) Joshua J. Johnson, 1997
I sit and watch the candle dance
Thoughts of you
The radio plays the saddest song
Every song is the saddest, when your gone
I sit in a dark room
The shadows dance,
This candle I stare
A dim light in a dark world
Nothing exists beyond its flame
My world has narrowed within its confines
My attention centered,
This candle becomes my womb
Gently weaving
Hypnotic its dance
My trance, its glow
Soft and warm,
Peaceful embers
My only thought is of you
And with a tear I close my eyes and blow
With one final dance
The candle waves goodnight
Leaving only its sweet scent
To accent the night.
