The Sinking

The fatal collision had come. The crew knew they had to do one thing and only one thing. They had to save the passengers. They had to get the lifeboats ready for the passengers. Some of the passengers were pretty lucky, but most of them weren't. There were only six lifeboats and more than two thousand people went on the ship. The lifeboats could only hold a capacity of sixty-five, but in a few there were only twenty-eight were put in the lifeboats. When the SOS calls were made, some people yelled back, "The ship can't be sinking! The ship is 'Unsinkable.'" But they were wrong. So wrong.

Thomas Andrews was walking around the ship and many people didn't know that the ship was sinking. Most people were already in bed. Thomas Andrews and more crew members went around the whole ship waking everybody up before the water could drown them. Sometimes they were too late. Some people asked if they had time to dress. But of course they had time for nothing, as the crew members would usually say to the passengers. The only thing they could do was throw their lifejackets over their nightgowns.

The ship was now getting worst and worst, filling with water, taking its mighty bow, and sinking! The last place that Thomas Andrews was in was the lounge. He was staring at a painting. The ship was sinking and he ignored all the things on the mantle that were falling down. He thought he should've designed a better ship. He knew the ship had three hours to stay afloat. But it was the rivets of the ship that were made wrong and that's part of the reason why the ship sank.

At 1:05 P.M., the lifeboats were finally made ready for the passengers. A few crew members had to cut off the ropes because the ropes were way to tight to roll them down. Boats began fallling down. People were pushed onto the lifeboats even though the lifeboats usually had twenty-eight people that night. The ship was getting worst. The last lifeboat went down and Molly Brown was in it too.

The men were left on the ship. The captain was dead. He killed himself. One crew member yelled "Every man for himself!" It really was the time for the men to try to save themselves. The ship was now bobbing in the water. And it only took twenty seconds for the stern to go down and slip into the sea.

The fireworks were shot out at this time to see if anybody would see them and come and save the passengers of Titanic. That wasn't happenning.
The Titanic was not so tipped at this time, but it was sinking!
This is one of the most famous paintings of the sinking. The stern was almost all the way out of the water now.
This is the front of the Titanic at this time. Water just couldn't be stopped as it filled up the whole entire ship.
Even at this time, Fenway Park was opening while Titanic was sinking and in this image, the Titanic's stern is all the way out of the water!
At this time, many people were falling off the ship. The funnels were falling down too and killing people.
The shut down of the lights had come. Lights were off and screams filled the air. Now no one could see.
The ship had split at this point. You cannot see the cracked parts in this image.
This was where you could really hear the loud CRAAACK when the ship had split in half.
Screams filled the air as the ship fell down after splitting in half and made the biggest splash.
The ship funnels began falling down into the sea and then the Titanic was bobbing and slipped into the sea.
