The HI-Y Model United Nations engages students in United Nations Councils and General Assembly. The purpose is to:
1. Increase student's awareness of the world and international affairs;
2. Cause students to recognize the relationships of the United Stated with other countries;
3. Provide students with experience in communication, compromise, and consensus building skills;
4. Increase student's knowledge of other nations' histories, traditions, national interest, and international policies;
5. Help students develop skills of research, writing, thinking, and speaking before others;
6. Enable students to meet peers from other schools, communities, and states;
7. Help youth develop self-confidence, enhance and apply classroom lessons, enjoy learning, and build skills of citizenship;
