It is with great sadness that I report on August 27th, 2001, Mary Frood, one of my closest friends, lost her battle with malignant melanoma. She died at home, in Barrie's arms, surrounded by her beloved furbabies. She is buried below Kastro, in Mazarakata cemetery. Her funeral was so large and so many friends attended the shops were nearly out of flowers...

The photo above is Mary's favorite photo... it was the inspiration for her to move to Kefallonia. I wanted to share this, and some anecdotes of Mary from friends and family for all of you who loved her writing.

My own health struggles with cancer and talking to Mary about life/death and cancer, really prepared me for keeping a positive attitude in the face of death. She was and is an inspiration to many people, globally!
