Helen Tilly born Mar 01, 1853. Sophia Tilly born Dec 30, 1855. Robert Tilly born Feb 26, 1858. died when 2 years, 11 months, 18 days old. Kate Tilly born Jan 11, 1860. Robert Tilly born Jan 11, 1863. Alice Tilly born Jan 02, 1865. died when 2 years, 9 months, 14 days old. Ernest Tilly born Jan 09, 1870. died when 6 months, 22 days old. Robert Tilly, born Nov 16, 1824. died Oct 20, 1872.
In 1895 Helen Tilley (1853-1904) of Robert served as post mistress for five months and Benjamin Baker (1852-1948) of Joseph was post master for the remainder of the year - Tilley's salary $4.17, Baker's was $5.83. (Ref JHAN). From 1896-98 Helen Tilley is again listed as post mistress. She was replaced by Benjamin Baker for the years 1899 to 1901. (Ref JHAN). Helen Tilley served again as post mistresss for the period 1902-04. The Year Book and Almanac of Newfoundland for 1905 does not list a post master or post mistress for Elliston, however, the year book for 1906 again lists Helen Tilley. (According to my research [Doug Cole] Helen Tilley of Robert died in 1904. The only other Helen Tilley who could have been post mistress in 1906 was Helen Eugenia Tilley (1887-?) of Arthur who would have been seventeen years old).
