Married

   On Sunday evening, 12th Jan., by the same (ie Rev. AEC Bayly, at Bird Island Cove),
   Mr. James Baker to Miss Elizabeth Tilley.



From the Royal Gazette, 8 July 1873

Died


   On June 14, at Bird Island Cove, after a long illness, James Baker, son of Henry Baker,
   aged 31 years.

   [NC Crewe comments- This is the husband of Elizabeth Tilley, above - strange that her 
    name is not mentioned in this Death Notice, while the father's name is. NCC Mar 1961].

The following men were given Royal Humane Society medals for rescuing the crew of the schooner
"Eric" off Bird Island Cove

   John McCowan; Constable at Catalina.
   ? Bailey; Constable at Bonavista.
   Arthur Tilly; Bird Island Cove.
   Christopher Chalk; Bird Island Cove.
   Samuel Tucker;Bird Island Cove.
   George Oldford;Bird Island Cove.
