The Course consists of study units and practice placements to which 18 credits are assigned. Each study unit requires about 50 hours of study, normally including 14 lectures, a number of tutorials and course assignments.
It is composed of
A common core of subjects, consisting of 8 study
units, to be followed by all students.
Five study units in either Social Gerontology
or Medical Geriatrics according to the candidate’s background and qualifications.
Module 3
Practical Placements of both observational and
“hands on” type, to which five credits are assigned. These placements
enable students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
Students will be expected to write a Long Essay
on an approved area of study chosen in consultation with a supervisor.

It is essential that candidates are fluent in the English Language.
Assessments will be held at the end of each module. A final Comprehensive Examination consisting of two written papers will also be held.
