2002 Outlaw Days May 4, 2002.

This page is picture - heavy...be patient.

The weather started cool this morning with no rain in site. The sellers set up their booths and the 2002 edition of Outlaw Days was underway.

.

Sallisaw BackDoor Cloghoppers open the show.

The Back Door Cloghoppers opened as they always do, Outlaw Days, and their performance was excellent. They ahd a few fun audience participation numbers.
Another staple at Outlaw Days-The Indian Territory Marshal's jailed a few people, gave a safety demonstration, and had a gunfight or two.

The dunk tank was going strong, Coach Coulson, Mr. Cox, and others have all been victims. This is always a crowd pleaser, representatives of Congressman Brad Carson were on hand as well as the good people from Cherokee Pottery.

Coach gets wet.

Then, amongst the food and goody sales Rick McAdoo spun a few tunes and acted as MC for the afternoon,

KFOX radio, once again, made a live broadcast with a few interviews in the morning.

Local Bands get to Showcase !!

Eight Ohms gets it going
Local band Eight Ohms started the live show at 3:00 with modern/punk titles. A "mosh pit" was going on during their performance. That was a new site for Porum.

The Strandeds take the stage

After them, The Strandeds entertained the crowd with more punk/modern and their own takes on a couple of classics. This was a great showcase for local talent and hopefully will be featured next year as well. Thanks to Eugene from "Rocks Blues" in Wainwright for supplying assistance and equipment for the two bands, who play at his business regularly on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The crowd enjoyed a wonderful day as the sun broke out and heated up the town.

just one shot of the crowd.

All in all , it seemed to be a success this year, even without the car show (hopefully, it will return next year). At 8:00 the street dance started with a huge crowd (cars were lined up on all sides of the street) and prizes were given away during the dance as always (remember that next year..it pays to stick around and get a coupon or three).

I'll have more pics up later, and will keep this page up for awhile. Thanks again to the Chamber of Commerce, the Porum Police, Muskogee County Sheriff's Dept., the Dunkees, the cooks, the exhibitors and all who helped with this event.
