Poetry of the Web
Welcome to the poetry of David B. Robinson. Writing has the
ability to inspire men to great deeds and may speak of what exists or what
may be. Often it may communicate, in and of itself, so for right now we
shall let it do that in an original poem or two. These short poems allude
to the German composer Richard Wagner (1813 - 1883) whose works were an
expression of romanticism.
A Peal for Wagner
As great as Ammon, he who rows,
His name will live in time;
The regal beauty in his craft
Shall not her hands begrime.
He rows from dusk to solar rays,
And with his paramour,
Full center on the mighty flow
That's way flows wide for more.
No muck nor marl shall block the track,
Nor grasses stay the flight,
On that fierce river, flowing wide,
Where Indians lay flight.
Fulmination for Wagner
From black to white and back again,
All in glory, lightning broke:
A shaft of light cracked through the sky,
Old potentials to unyoke.
The river on which Wagner rows
Is cast, and flows in calm,
Whilst lilies and forget-me-nots
Turn stone to his madame.
No muck nor marl shall block the line,
No papyrus notes--ashore.
The river of the Indians
Flows on to Olympus' door.
