A Wishing Star

Upon the stars she wished one night
A thought, a dream which transcended light.
She spoke in hushed and muted voice;
Announcing to the heavens, her heart; her choice.

"Star Light" she sang and spoke aloud,
As the twinkling orbs did pass a cloud.
"Star Bright" continued, her melody sang
The most wondrous sound, and e'er it rang.

Eyes uplifted, in a hope-filled plight,
"First Star in Heaven, I see this Night!"
She clasped her hands in prayer-like pause,
Holding her breath,.. her wish....her cause.

Unseeing eyes, hold a promise of sight,
"I wish I may...I wish...I might"
Her tune brings forth a soft, blue light.
"Have this wish, I wish tonight."

She opens her eyes, at once she sees;
A vision of all of life's possibilities.
The stars shoot South, then North, then West,
Seem to say, "You have passed this test".

The dazzling display of cosmic dust
Again requires her sincerest trust
. A wistful look, eyes filled with new dreams,
Sometimes a Wish...is more than it seems.
