Words once hushed and softly spoken
Leave a residue of pain
The promise of love held no token.
Yet passed away with muted refrain.
As the cagey hunter trap'd his prey
And bound her with a gossamer word
Persued her to the castled she'd stay
While his song of love, only she heard.
He did woo her from her lofty perch
Where the star maiden would ne'er leave;
Sought her heart; made good his search
A vow from him she did believe.
Now the questing o'er; the hunt complete;
Sparce his countenance does he now make
Her single thought, "Tis this my defeat?"
"What left of me is there now to take?"
So, there the hunters's trophy lay
Within the cold, dark empty cell
He seeks her no longer, no does he stay
But leaves her rapt, in her own icy hell.
No light does come to rend the ties
That bind her to his questing heart.
No sparkling comes to these emerald eyes
Since gloved in mystery he dare depart.
Alone and clad with only ribboned dreams
With in his fervor, hopes he tied
While all about her, no colorful streams
But in the deepest, darkest black she lies....
From Ice Castle of Purest White
Through the verdent forest glade
To the abyss that now hold her so tight
While the soundless sorrow again is played.
