Arrogance and Humility

So may times I wondered
How starless skies could shine...
A foolish thought; a notion
As I thought you could be mine.

A moment passed; I held my breath,
Yet only silence heard.
The moon eclipsed; it's light gone dark.
You left without a word.

I blame you not, for leaving such
This solitude tis my mate,
I expected more that I got,
But you're leaving was my fate.

How dare I think you'd care so much?
What arrogance I portrayed?
I should have known for me twas naught,
Yet my humility was betrayed.

No laughter peals from these lips,
I embrace this cold, cold earth.
For when you'd gone you took from me
My gladness, soul and mirth.

Still I raise a glass and toast to you
For your masquerade so complete.
You've won the battle and the war
Achieved my destruction; defeat.

So "Cheers" to you, rejoice my friend
For victory is yours this day,
I'll wander back pon frozen ground
In my Ice Castle I shall stay.......
