I like the songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. I like to hear them sung by Dionne Warwick, but even more by three female singers whose voices I think were divine. Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter and Mari Wilson. I also like what the band Deacon Blue have done with some of their songs, my favourite being The Look Of Love. Also Are You There (With Another Girl?), I'll Never Fall In Love Again and Close To You. Another great female singer is Lisa Stansfield. From the album of the same name comes Real Love, All Woman and Time To Make You Mine. I love the early David Bowie, from his earliest album up to Aladin Sane. Not many people realize that early on he wrote some lovely love songs. Let Me Sleep Beside You and In The Heat Of The Morning are from his earliest album. Letter To Hermione and An Occasional Dream are from Space Oddity. I also like the albums The Man Who Sold The World (especially The Width Of A Circle), Hunky Dory (especially Queen Bitch), Ziggy Stardust and Aladin Sane. I don't much like Diamond Dogs, except Rebel Rebel. His later stuff is OK, but not as good as his early stuff. |
