Real You

Real You

You look in the mirror, put on your best smile
Get ready to face the world
But deep inside, it's been a long while
Since the real you was unfurled

With a plastic smile you give empty praise
To any that you may know
But take a good look at all your past days
It's nothing more than a side-show

You've buried yourself in "What will they think?"
Instead of "Who do I want to be?"
The dreams that you had all went down the sink
As you lived your life for society

You have this big picture inside of your mind
Of how the world looks at you
You won't stop and think, you're just not the kind
To ignore what you want for the truth

You think that they love you, when really they pity
The empty shell you've become
So you compose your life, but in reality
Your life-song remains unsung

Now you lay in your bed, tasting your last air
The friends by your side are few
You feel so alone because you never did care
If you were ever the Real You
