ADHAWIN is a Microsoft Windows based program to convert Romainzed Tamil Text to Windows based Tamil True Type Font. The ADHAWIN.TTF was developed by Dr. Srinivasan. This true type font will be available for all software running under Windows. You can copy to clipboard, a text converted to Tamil using your favorite word processor, and then insert it in CORELDRAW for example. Then use all the power of CORELDRAW to make artistic texts in Tamil. If you send Tamil texts to others, make sure the ADHAWIN.TTF is also sent along. The software also allows conversion from and to many other formats like Dr. Kalyanasundaram's Mylai Plain Font.

The current version dated 03/29/96 supports Windows 3.1 & later and also Windows 95 and the following are the improvements:

1. ADHAWIN.TTF is now hinted. So it displays well at small sizes on screen.
2. koo, moo zhoo bug from Mylai to Roman conversion is fixed.
3. To Roman transliteration: eLa, - ow bug is fixed.
4. To Roman transliteration: meen_gaL - meengaL bug fixed.
5. Conversion to and from Tamil Typewriter format added.
6. Conversion to/from C-DAC (Govt. of India) file format added.

Using ADHAWIN Standalone

ADHAWIN (with no command string) will run the ADHWIN Format converter program. This help is available on line. You can also install ADHAWIN to its ICON using the File New command in Windows Program Manager. The following features are available from the command line as well as direct execution.

Command Line execution:
ADHAWIN   ijk    ssssss    tttttt
i  - a number from 1 to 9 representing the format of the input string
j  - a number from 1 to 9 representing the format of the output string
k  - a number from 0 to 2 representing the style of Tamil characters
ssssss    - File name which has the input string
            (NULL means the input string is in the Windows Clip Board)
tttttt    - File name where the output string goes
            ( NULL means the output string goes to Windows Clip Board)
