Graduation Time

It's 9 p.m. on a Thursday night as I write this. My son is in bed, and my husband is at a bar somewhere downtown with two of his classmates. My husband's night out is well-deserved, though, as today was his last class. By last class, I don't just mean the last one of the semester, either; my husband is scheduled to receive his degree next week. Two years of juggling schedules and working every spare moment are finally over; we have reached the end of the road. I know my parents, who have handled a large portion of the childcare duties while my husband has been in school, have been eagerly awaiting this moment. They are leaving tomorrow morning for a three-week vacation in Taiwan and Japan; they aren't even sticking around for my husband's graduation ceremony. For my part, I am looking forward to having more time with my husband. My son and I have learned to find ways to entertain ourselves while my husband has been in school, but it will be nice to have regular family time again without feeling as though we are stealing time away from my husband's studies.

I wonder if I should go back to graduate school some time? I've always been interested in studying gemology .... I think I have a few other things I want to take care of before I take that path, though. I also think my family needs a good, long break before we start trying to juggle schedules again.
