This morning as I was riding the subway, I saw a girl putting on makeup as she chatted with a friend sitting beside her.  I have grown accustomed to the sight of people cutting their fingernails, picking at skin irritations, and other grooming acts that perhaps are better done in private, so this girl's actions did not faze me.  What did amaze me was her ability to put on eyeliner perfectly while riding a moving train.  If I had tried that, I probably would have poked myself in the eye.
