Chaos enters with a lone, weak cry;
His white body shudders with pain.
Torn from his internal home.
Cold breeze against his tiny fingers;
His mother cannot warm them.
Sickness enters his tiny heart.
Mother calls for her child;
He sleeps in the machine.
They stab him with their needles;
Cry's echo off the white, sterile walls.
People come quietly, always looking on;
Never to experience his undying pain.
Mother holds his tiny body;
His sick eyes look through a blur.
Warmth fills his soul as his heart is close to hers.
Slowly, he strengthens his body
while his mind remains ever weak;
The sickness there is eternal.
Light is seen in his tunnel;
He travels home from his pain
Given a chance to live his life;
The trials have just begun.
Mother questions the struggle ahead;
The future is unknown; fear is in her heart.
His rise to health is steady for
this strong and handsome boy.
Smiling in his happy face, ignorant to his past.
Slow in his learning
Set apart from all the rest
Normal is an unknown word and place.
He has interest in the strange things,
Comrades with unusual;
A wall between the others.
He questions what went wrong;
His frustration comes and goes.
The questions have no answers.
Alone in his own world,
Others only visit.
Time travels through him; his mind never changing.
He is wise in his ignorance
Happy and content; despite his many problems;
He is at peace with his surroundings.
Envied by the masses,
His carefree life is bliss.
No problems overcome him;
His eyes are blind to see.
His mind sees only good, and never any wrong;
Only he can see the world as bright and clean and clear.
The oldest of three children, she has 2 younger brothers; Jamie [now 17] and Thomas [12].
Wymberley is a very special young woman. She has overcome great adversity in her life and has excelled above it all. This summer she was a part of the 300+ member OLYMPIC BAND that performed in concerts throughout Atlanta in June and July, as well as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games.
I hope that you will join me in wishing her well. Please send any e-mail that you might want to extend to her in care of: [email protected] I'm positive that she would love to hear from you!
