The Pentacle

There are common misconceptions about the pentacle(or pentagram). "The pentacle is the sign of the devil" or "Those who wear the pentacle are all evil" and there are many more. These, as you may know are not true. The pentacle has many different meanings. The main ones I will explain about here:

The pentacle is used as a symbol of never-ending things. If you follow around the circle, there is no end, it just continues never-ending. The same goes for the star inside the circle. You can start at any part of the star, and follow it in any direction, and you will find that the star never ends. To inturpret this even further, it symbolizes the ups and downs of life, and even death. There is always a negative and a positive point of everything. When there's life, there's death. When there's good, there's bad. You can pretend that you are standing on a circle in your day. Your day is going really bad, but if you walk along the circle to the oposite side than you are on right now, you will find good.
The symbol can be used to remind you to be optimistic.

And now for the "basic meaning" of the pentacle(or pentagram). The 5 points of the star represent the 5 different elements. They are interconnected, as I stated above, and so they overlap into each other.
The different points of the star represent these elements:

Spirit
Earth
Air
Water
Fire

So you say "I thought there were only 4 elements!" well, the fifth, or the first, which ever way you'd like to look at it, is called the akasha, it is the spirit. The akasha is when all the other 4 elements come together into a single entity, and form a 5th, completely unique element. The akasha is the most important element of all, since it is the element that we let go free when we do spells, or astral project, or even sleep. It is the most important element because it is the one that we use the most, and the one that we wish to expand more than any other element. Also, (this may confuse you) the akasha is also all the elements combined. It is like light. Light seems to be a white, but if you split the light with a prism, you get all the colors of the rainbow, but yet white is still a color. The akasha is like that light, and when it is split, it becomes the 4 other elements AND itself.

So now you know that the pentacle is not a symbol stating that we worship the devil. I will go over our beliefs in the devil in another article.
